Every bit as good as as brand name Nexium at a fraction of the price!

My partner has severe, persistent acid reflux, and the doctor recommended prescription strength Nexium to combat it. Our insurance won’t cover this at all, so we were force to buy over the counter and double the normal dose (two pills daily.) This gets fairly expensive if you have to pay full price for the product. While shopping on Amazon, I happened onto this and after discussing it, thought we’d give it a try. We’ve been using this exclusively for the last two months, and can say that it works at least as well as the brand name product and at half of the price. In addition, I added this to our subscribe-and-save deliveries, saving another 15% each month. As with any generic product, you have to try it to see if it works as well for you as the brand name product. For us, this works as well or better than the name brand. If you take Nexium, I do recommend trying this product as an alternative and see if it works as well for you as it does for us.

    Only received one???

I was surprised when only one bottle showed up in the delivery. I thought perhaps someone took the label and peeled it off and placed it on this one bottle. I kept looking at the page on Amazon but couldn’t figure out what happened. I never see a place to ask questions. Anyway I figured it was a mistake and I order them all the time so I just let it slide. The product itself is fantastic. It’s for my son who has to take one every single day. Works well for him. By the way, I continue to order; just a different package.

Well I don’t have heartburn, but I am KILLING the environment!

I’ve been taking Nex1um for years and once the patent wore out I of course switched to generic. The Subscribe and Save option is great, but slightly ahead of my schedule (no option fits 42x pills perfectly) so I kinda stock pile these. The problem, and it’s VERY VERY annoying is that they STILL ship these the old school way they first came out as, which is in 3x 14 pill bottles. I know no one that consumes these like that, if you need them, it’s once a day…period. This picture is the WASTE from 4x boxes / 12x bottles / 168 pills which didn’t even fill up that orange pill bottle half way. We can do better than this Amazon…just send them all in 1 darn bottle. Other than that rant, these work great, I thank you, the landfill however does not.

    Lasts almost 24 hours, usually

I’ve eaten an estimated 11,000 omeprazole caps over 32 years of chronic GERD. Esomeprazole seems to be a minor, stereoisomeric variant of good old omeprazole, by my reckoning. These are a good price and do the job seemingly exactly the same. My gastroenterologist just looked all the way down and said I’m OK. If you’re taking these regularly, go get checked for Barrett’s Esophagus. Google it. Barrett’s esophagus signals increased risk of developing esophageal cancer which is a VERY bad thing.

Great product for a great price

I was so happy when we finally had a generic esomeprazole! It’s the little things in life! As I grow older, I get major heartburn. I have had several ulcers now. Omeprazole never worked well for me. When this all started, my doctor wrote me a script for esomeprazole, I took it to the pharmacy, they said it would be $500 out of pocket! I just waited for the generic 😂 This is the best price I have found and it got here quick! Highly suggested if you feel like you are going to die when you go have bar food and a few drinks 🤣

Works as intended; has wasteful packaging and unnecessary dyes

SOURCE : This is an FDA’s approved, proton-pump inhibitor [PPI] that Amazon packages and labels. The phone number for the “Question or comments” printed on the box (see my figure A) shows that Amazon’s source is L. Perrigo, a Michigan pharmaceutical company legally headquartered in Ireland for tax purposes, which owns a number of subsidiaries around the world, including Agis Industries in Israel, where this generic OTC drug is likely manufactured. INGREDIENTS : [1] The active ingredient is a magnesium salt in dihydrate form of esomeprazole, the chiral s-isomer of the older PPI omeprazole. Although these ingredients cannot be differentiated analytically (but for their chirality), their clinical effects are not identical — a number of studies have shown that esomeprazole provides better control of intragastric pH and is more effective in treating GERD’s esophagitis than omeprazole. [2] Three of the excipients listed on the box (see my figure A) are worth of comment. One is gelatin, used for the capsules, whose origin is unspecified; those with vegetarian or vegan affinities should be aware that, quite more often than not, unspecified gelatin derives from animal tissues (cattle, pork, chicken) rather than cellulose. [3] Another is titanium dioxide, whose dust is deemed a hazardous material by OSHA, and was classified as a “possible carcinogenic” in 2006 by the International Agency for Research on Cancer due to its common use in the form of nanoparticles. Furthermore, the European Food Safety Authority no longer considers titanium dioxide safe as a food additive as of June 2021. [4] The third are the artificial food colorants [AFC] blue#1 and red#3. Adults with ADHD taking this drug ought to be aware that the controversial claims of food dyes posing a hyperactivity risk are not without scientific support, at least regarding small but non-trivial harmful effects on children’s behavior. An example of that is the 2007 Southampton study of McCann and others, a UK clinical trial [reg. no. ISRCTN4481308] that led the European Parliament in 2008 to ask manufacturers to remove several dyes from foods and beverages, or to put on the label the warning “may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.” This contrasts with the latter, 8-to-6 vote, FDA’s decision against such a warning in a 2011 hearing. On April 2021, the California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazards Assessment issued a peer-reviewed report concluding that AFCs are associated with adverse neurobehavioral outcomes in children. Adding food dyes to prettify small gelatin capsules for adults is a daft absurdity. RISKS : Taking this PPI at a prescription dose level (e.g., 40 mg), or when it is continued well beyond the recommended course of treatment, or both, involves a number of potential health risks, some better known than others. Worth of comment is hypomagnesemia (that is, low magnesium levels in blood), which can be significantly magnified by antihypertensive drugs, particularly thiazide or loop diuretics in combination with beta-blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers, or ACE inhibitors. PACKAGING : The three-bottle box I got is an ode to plastic waste — each unopened bottle of about 55 cc is 3/4 empty, and putting the capsules of all the bottles into one (see my figure B) leaves it about 2/3 empty. (Meanwhile in France plastics are being phased out, Amazon…)__

    Great value, works

This works great for my chronic GERD symptoms. I usually take it quite consistently (after consulting with a gastroenterologist) and experience no side effects and no breakthrough symptoms. On the days I skip, I definitely notice a return of symptoms, so it definitely works well when I take it. It works just as well as Nexium for me but is a lot cheaper. My only complaint is one voiced by others in the reviews: so much packaging!

    Works well

I’m fairly certain these aren’t exactly Nexium but close enough. I do want to share an experience though… I’ve been taking Nexium prescription for years do to horrid reflux. Dr told me I had to have blood tests every 3 months because of Nexium. Now it’s over the counter and I don’t get blood tests. About a month ago my wife took me to the ER because I was acting odd thought I thought I was fine. “Dangerously” low calcium and “seriously” low magnesium. I was a mere burp away from a heart attack, kidneys were down to 42% and they kept me overnight. If you take Nexium or the generics more than a month or so, get a blood test. It’s the only thing that works for me so I have to take magnesium and calcium to keep up with it. My heart is awesome but had I had a heart attack, I would have heart damage! Take care.

CAUTION – Obviously Lacking Quality Control – Received BAD Batch

I’ve used this product for several years – in fact i just checked and I’ve ordered the 42 ct package 34 times now…so well over 3 years of usage. But my last shipment is not working at all. I switched to a different generic and all is well. I switched back to this product again, just to make sure it wasn’t something else – and again, it is not effective at all.So my test – while not exactly scientific – is all I need to know. Whatever quality controls are applied to the manufacture of this product are LACKING. This product might work – but it MIGHT NOT WORK – depending on the batch you receive.I will not ever use again!

    RELIEF!

i am so glad i found these… my doctor prescribed these for me as i had stomach issues when eating… these work great…i became frustrated with my pharmacist constantly changing manufacturers in the middle of my treatments… all manufacturers do not use the same fillers and i would end up with side effects from the new manufacturer that i didn’t with the previous one…(if that makes sense) so i took a looksee and found it here…THANKS AMAZON! i made a fuss with my pharmacist about the switch and he filled the last script with my preferred choice…and just recently he did my refill i thought would be my usual and i’ll be d@#% if he didn’t use the new manufacturer anyway! grrrr! so i told him to remove that rx from my profile… and here i am… i did my tesearch… read the reviews…i am confident i made the right decision… you can zlways count on Amazon to be there when you need them…AMEN?!

I’ve taken Nexium for 10 years and it has always worked for my heartburn. This is the first generic Nexium with magnesium that did not work for me at all. I literally think I was given placebo pills. I was happy to see that Amazon was selling it and suddenly I got heartburn so I started taking a double dose of these and the double dose did nothing! Amazon needs to get their quality control on these pills together!

    NITRO, HANDLE WITH CARE!!

Product seems to be effective at stopping acid reflux. I had been using the Amazon Basic Care Lansoprazole Delayed Release Capsules, but switched as it seemed not to be quite effective as it once was. Not that there is anything wrong with product, just that I’ve been using for several years in some brand or another. So talked to my Doctor and they suggested Esomeprazloe caps to control acid reflux/heartburn. Tried a couple of boxes and half the cost,(7.86 1st box only to jump to 17.09) and does what it’s supposed to do for heartburn. There is just one little problem. They’re like nitroglycerin, they explode, not literally! The capsules, whatever they’re made of, seem a bit fragile compared to other capsules. I’ve open each bottle only to find at least 1 broken and little, itty bitty, white balls of time release medication, rolling everywhere. A bit annoying when in the office and these things bounce all over my dark desk. This has been the case, broken caps, in the last 2 boxes. So it’s either the capsules are very fragile or the delivery people are very rough in handling packages. But since I never had an issue withe the Amazon Basic Lansoprazole Capsules, I’m assuming it’s the composition of the Esomeprazole Capsules. So I’m probably going to switch back to Lansoprazole, due to the exploding capsules and the exploded price of Esomeprazole from one course to another of Amazon’s Basics brand. I don’t mind the generic versions, but price swings of 110%, really!

    Best Value – Good Quality

The Amazon Esomeprazole 20 mg. works better than most of the so called “Generic” versions in the marketplace. They all claim to have the same ingredients but they don’t all work the same or as well as this Amazon branded product. The high priced name brand version of this product does also work well but costs a lot more than the best value/quality Amazon brand.

Love the product and price, but hate the logistics.

This product is equivalent to the name brand and works for me. The price and brand is ok. I have a big complaint with the logistics of this product. Last month (October 2022) my subscribe and save came with just one bottle (which I see others have posted pictures, too). The customer service refunded me that month. This month (November 2022) it came as show in the picture. The bottles were sealed, but it looks like someone stabbed the box and stepped on it. The bottles were dirty. I understand there can be errors, but this is ridiculous. I think I am being retaliated against because I complained the first time. I won’t bother complaining this time as I did technically get the product. However, Amazon, Perrigo and third party sellers need to do MUCH better than this. I’m not looking for pity or a refund BUT I 100% know if either product was sold at a store it would be sold 50% off or more due to the product being damaged. Why would you sell either option as “new in box”? Definitely not! I will give you guys another try on this item and if it’s still the same I will cancel the subscription.
