How often is the paper shredder recommended to lubricate this unit?

The crosscut paper shredder is jammed. What should I do?
Please slide the switch to REV and pull up the paper, after removing the exceed sheets, shred again. If there is too much paper scraps in the paper feed slot, sliding the switch to FWD mode for a few seconds and then to REV mode for a few seconds.
Use Tips
- Refer to the user manual and troubleshooting guide before use.
- To avoid paper jams caused by overloading the machine, check and clean the cutter in good time.
- Please wait until the paper is completely shredded before adding new paper.
- When the bin is full, please clean it out in time to avoid affecting the reversing function and making the machine unusable.
- The machine has an overheat protection device. After the overheat protection has been triggered during the previous use, please cool down for more than 40 minutes before shredding the next time.
- Shredder Oil Packs are recommended to regularly sharpen, clean and lubricate the shredder blades for optimum shredder performance. *When using the oil pack for cleaning, please take care to empty the waste bin of shredded paper first.
- To prolong the life of the shredder, it is recommended to regularly clean both the shredder bin and the dust inside the machine.
- Do not spray or keep any aerosol products in or around the shredder.
- As part of Bonsaii quality inspections, we test every shredder before shipping it, which means you may see some paper shreds from the testing.

You can get about 1 4gal trash bag full of consistent shredding, then you’ll have to wait for it to cool off. Perfect for home, not recommend if you have boxes full of papers needing shredded, unless you are going to be doing it over the course of weeks.

Microcut is the way to go
Microcut ensures that the person that might try to take your trash would rather not because it would take too much time to put together the microcut pieces. I’ve been shredding for decades and this is the best way to go. This is also inexpensive. Due to it being so small, it’ll take some time to do a lot of shredding. This would be good for everyday shredding. After you open your mail and you decide I don’t want this application for a credit card, then immediately shred it instead of putting it in the garbage. However, I used it for a lot of shredding. I’ll shred it until it overheats or until I felt like it was getting too hot. But I completed the entire bag. A little here and a little there. Make sure you dump the can and do a back and forward to make sure you get all of the paper out of the grooves. Also, a good idea is to get the oil sheets to keep it oiled, which you can also get here at Amazon.

Easy-to-use shredder for home
I used to have a portable strip paper shredder that although it was advertised to shred 5 pages at a time; in reality, it could barely handle 2 pages. So, I was happy to upgrade to the Bonsaii 8-page cross-cut paper shredder. It’s easy to set up. All you have to do is to put the shredder on top of the wastebasket (the handle makes it very easy to do that), plug it, and push the switch to “auto,” and start feeding the paper into the shredder. Since I was working with the thick paper used for bank and credit card statements, I found out that it was better to feed three to four pages at a time. Also, because I was not feeding the paper continuously (I would stop to remove the staplers and flatten up the pages, shred, pause to prepare the next batch), the shredder worked without overheating for an hour. However, toward the end of the hour, I could see the size of the shredded paper was not as small as it was when I first started, and I needed to switch to “reverse” to clear the path of the cutters. So, this machine definitely needs a “recovery time” to perform at its best. I like that it comes with its own 4.2-gallon wastebasket. The manufacturer recommends not to line it with a bag, and it should be filled up to the top of the window. I didn’t find the noise level to be anything out of the ordinary. This shredder has made the task of getting rid of old documents easier and probably more secure since it cuts them into smaller pieces instead of strips. I’m pretty satisfied with the purchase of this shredder.

Works great, easy to understand jam. It does auto shut off for 40mins if it overheats but I think that’s a plus to keep the quality and performance of the product up. Use it in a ventilated area because the dust will come out as you use it. Bonsail shedder – will cut everything including bag inside
Works well, it’s not a commercial grade, for home it works well. Wish it had a little bit more power but for the price point it’s fine. Word of caution, I use plastic bags to catch the shedded paper, first time I removed the bag I had paper all over the floor. Well the can has a see thru plastic window, with sharp edges inside so it cuts the plastic bags! Ref picture of inside

I’m pleased with this shredder with one thing to monitor if you buy one.
Im pleased with the Bonsai 8 page shredder. I like the price, compact size, ease of use and that it shreds paper into tiny pieces. For the price, I did not expect it to be super fast. However, mine jammed after filling one bucket and I spent 3 hours picking little pieces of paper out of the blades. The good news is that it’s preventable. I didn’t realize when it first jammed because it still worked , albeit with papers feeding at an angle. There was a a clump of tiny papers blocking a section of the blades. Because I wasn’t aware of the blockage, it built up into a solid blob, which I eventually cleared cutting the blob running the loose papers out. I haven’t had the problem since by occasionally stopping the machine, run it with no paper Forward and then Reverse. When I empty the bin, I check the blades for blockages and can pick some paper with tweezers and then running the machine with no paper in it.I would not recommend this if you will shred papers frequently, and with large volume. But for spring cleaning home files and documents, it’s a great purchase.

Manufacturer stated no plastic bags. And because I’m a rebel (lol), I learned the hard way. The transparent plastic window has sharp clips on them. They ripped the plastic bag like a wild vampire.Pro tip: point an electric fan towards the exhaust grates at the back to prevent the shredder from over heating.

Not the prettiest or expensive looking item (more the opposite), but given the price this is really a solid option. I’ve shredded hundreds of pages by now, and it is holding up well. Entire letters such as marketing offers including dummy credit cards go straight in there, and while it may be working a little harder in those cases it gets the job done, and the shreds are really fine enough to not having to worry.

5 sheets of paper looks like the most it can handle
I got the shredder today and I had (still have a bit) a pile of documents I don’t want to throw away unsecured. Mostly old utility bills, work related stuff…First off, it is amazing how it is filling up so fast! The pile of sheets didn’t seem that thick to me, but once shredded, it filled up the whole 4.2 gallon bin.Then the shredder really doesn’t like to work past the 4 minutes mark. It was actually starting to smell a bit when the shredder went into cool down mode. I guess it was perfect, but a bit frustrating as I was only a dozen pages left to shred away. Well, I am typing this review while it’s cooling down, and I’ll finish the shredding shore after that.And finally, it kind of struggles to start shredding. The contact that turns the blades on is kind of hard. Maybe that’s a safety feature, but the previous shredder I had was making it a bit easier.Overall, this small home shredder does the job, this cross cut thing is great (I was used to these shredders doing long stripes of paper). But don’t expect any sort of productivity here. Further down the lane, I will not need to secure so many documents at once, so its productivity limitations will not be an issue anymore Let’s hope it will last long enough to make it a good buy.

When my very old shredder stopped working, I went looking for a small shredder that didn’t cost a lot. This one met my needs and was very affordable. I have been using it to shred old documents and so far only once did it get too hot and that was because I overfilled the bin. My only warning is not to over stuff the bin with the crosscut paper pieces.

I like everything about this shredder, minus one irritation that I didn’t feel was worth dropping a whole star for.Because the bottom collection basket doesn’t need to be anything more than lightweight plastic, 95% of the device’s weight is in the removable top section (where the actual shredder motor and blades are). This top section doesn’t attach to the basket below it with any sort of latch or hook, but instead tapers slightly and sits just atop and inside the basket. Because of how top heavy it is, it’s easier to tip over than I’d really like it to be. And because the top doesn’t latch and is just resting on the lip of the basket, if (…when…) it gets knocked over you’ll find yourself spending the next 15 minutes cleaning the fantastically well shredded paper that’s now all over your floor.If you have pets that are likely to investigate this (two of the times I’ve cleaned up shredded paper from the floor) or you’re clumsy and prone to tripping over things (the other time I had to clean up shredded paper, lol), I’d suggest tucking it into a corner when not in use, or emptying it each time you finish shredding things.To be clear, I’ve never felt like this was a problem during normal use, and it’s just an annoyance rather than a real “problem”. Outside of that, I have absolutely no complaints about this device at all! It shreds incredibly well, handles the amount of paper it claims it can, and isn’t even especially loud! (it’s not “quiet”, but it’s much quieter than the shredders I’ve used in the past). I’m not shredding all that much, just typical household bills and credit card offers, but I’ve filled the basket 3 times at least and it seems to be holding up just fine, and by not pushing it to shred as much and as fast as possible I’ve never even seen the overheat warning others have talked about.Overall I like this shredder, just be mindful of where you leave it sitting if you don’t plan on cleaning your floors today!

It gets the job done
This shredder works great for what it costs, just be prepared for it to take awhile because it can only handle 3-4 sheets at a time. It advertises 8 sheets at a time but 4 or more it struggles and sometimes jams. It will overheat after like 20 mins, but if you do more than 3 sheets it will overheat in like 10. Overall it works and gets the job done as long as you’re patient.

Works well as described
I received my shredder about six weeks ago, brand new in the box, never opened, well packaged. I know some reviewers have been sent previously used model. Mine was in perfect condition.It is just the right size for what I need. I use it a few times a week as needed. Has not overheated for me since I only do a few sheets at a time. I keep it in my garage on the workbench next to one of the outlets. Just the right size. Am very satisfied with it. and the price was very good.

Powerful, quiet and attractive!

Let me start by saying that I received a brand-new model with the foam blocks and all. Box looked to be untouched. Some people complained about receiving a used model, not my case.So this is a really nice shredder, especially for the price! I cannot believe that shredders are so expensive.. but security these days is a must! Please don’t throw away your papers as is, invest in a shredder!!First, the appearance. It looks like your everyday office appliance BUT it’s attractive! I know some companies try to set their products apart from others and ‘pop’.. but they’re so ugly! This one is simple and streamline. The shred level window is really useful! Once the paper reaches the top of it, it’s time to empty into a bag! You’d swear it costs WAY more than just 32 bucks! I wouldn’t mind leaving this one out in plain sight although.. someone might steal it! So hide it!Speaking of hiding it.. it’s a nice size. Big enough to shred a lot, small enough to hide it!Second, instructions. Very simple booklet came with the shredder. The Amazon product description says you can shred credit cards, but the booklet says you SHOULD NOT shred credit cards. I shredded a couple of insurance cards, no problem. Just don’t stick anything TOO thick in there. Remember guys, you get what you pay for! Don’t complain if it breaks! Honestly though, it chewed through it like a Toyota Land Cruiser in mud. Smooth.Third, Performance. This thing shreds FAST! It’ll go through a sheet of paper in just 4-5 seconds. The machine comes pre-lubed but make sure you buy some oil and give it the love it needs every 500-800 sheets or 3 months. Remember folks, this is a SIX SHEET shredder, make sure you don’t choke it up! I haven’t had a single slow-down, jam, or overheat and I’m going through a dump load of personal info. I’m talking more than 500 sheets! Also, it does cross cut very well. This one doesn’t have those ejecting blades, rather, the cross cutting is built into the rows of blades in the form of spikes. Talk about reliable design in a compact package!The shredder is not loud, but don’t use it in a quiet place where people might be sleeping. It’s quiet in the day, but loud at night if that makes sense. It’s a shredder! What do you expect!Fourth, safety. The paper insert slit is deep, so your kids’ fingers won’t reach the blades. Still, keep it away from them as when the shredder is lifted, the blades are exposed and can really turn into an ugly situation. Don’t attempt to clean the blades with your fingers, I almost cut myself. Use a brush or gently pick out the excess paper using a spring-loaded needle nose plier. Remember: it’s a machine, NOT a toy!!Fifth: energy savings. If you’re looking for this, go burn your papers. Paper shredders aren’t really that efficient in general.Please do not attempt to make a salad with this machine. It’s not for any kind of organic materials.

Very good either the price and the quality.
If you are looking for home use Shredder, this one is perfect, I used to have an Amazon heavy duty one which is making horrible noises and not easy to move, and it doesn’t do the heavy duty job at all. This one if perfect.

Good home shredder. Not meant for super heavy work loads
Good home shredder,Shreds fine but will shut down if you use it continuously. Trick is to use for about 8 minutes, then let it cool down a bit so you’re not waiting 30 minutes for it to reset. So if you have a lot to shred on a consistent basis this it not the shredder for you.

Read the instructions first
This paper shredder is reliable and economical. The limitations in terms of sheet thickness, and the number of sheets the shredder can process simultaneously are clearly spelled out in the instructions. This paper shredder can overheat, and that’s a little bit scary. So I empty the bin of shredded paper frequently and try to shred just a few pages at a time. This shredder works well within its clearly-stared limitations. I only shred paper occasionally.

Stops too soon
This one is for 8 pages only. So, it stops after doing a few minutes of shredding and “rests” and then comes back on automatically. Don’t forget to turn the power off when it stops and you decide to come back later or you might wake up to a strange noise!
