Size can be deceiving
I had initially purchased this with the impression this was the biggest size. I received it and it wasn’t the biggest size tablet that matched my two older kids tablets. Storage capacity could be a lot better, however I do recommend it for younger children. My son enjoys using it but definitely was not completely satisfied with the size.Great quality though!

I love it.
This is the best fire tablet Amazon has made. Videos show great. The sound is loud. Usually every time I bought a fire tablet in the pastI always return it or end up selling it on eBay. This one is a keeper. I love the Disney case. ❤️❤️

Toddler Is happy.
The media could not be loaded.
We order the princess cover.Daughter loves seeing the princesses!Making the tablet child proof from the internet is pretty easy. You are able to turn off the camera, internet access, they have to request to purchase any games or apps.We are happy with it so far!I love that there’s also an adult profile for myself, since my toddler missed up my ipad for reading. All my amazon books are right there, easy access to view. There is a passcode to be able to switch between the child profile and the adult profile. It’s kind of tricky exiting out of apps and shows compared to an ipad. Which isn’t bad for my toddler, a little annoying when you are overwhelmed.

Value
You get what you pay for. It’s a good tablet for the price that you pay. Amazon kids has tons of good features that makes the tablet perfect to distract my daughter in the car with long drives. It is slow and my daughter gets mad with how it takes forever to load some apps. But that is expected with the price and memory of this tablet.

Just buy it!!
Absolutely love this!! Bought it for my grandson about 6 months ago when he was 1.5 years old (he’s 2 now) and he loves it. Yea I know he was young but we were getting ready to make a cross country move in two vehicles and needed to have something to keep him occupied in the car for hours at a time. We did not expect it to work as well as it did. Didn’t take him long to figure it out. He has thrown it and dropped it and it hasn’t hurt it at all. I did get the screen protector too but the case is amazing. Only issue we had was running out of space and that’s only been once. We deleted some apps and then it was fine. Now that we are moved and settled, his time on it is more limited of course but he still loves it.

My 2 year old loves it
We got this for my 2 year old last christmas and he loves it. The size and weight are perfect for him. Also, Mickey Mouse is his absolute favorite so the oversll theme of the tablet is a big win. The Amazon kid app offers a ton of educational but fun apps for him to play on or off wifi. We’ve never had any issues connecting the tablet to wifi which is great. The only thing we don’t love is the storage capacity. It’s not super big and we like to download episodes off disney plus on the tablet so he can watch them without wifi. So we purchased an external SD card and this did resolve our issue.

The call feature doesn’t work
I got this for my son’s birthday to update his old tablet and one of the things he was looking forward to was the call feature so he can easily call his grandparents. We have tried everything under the sun and read every forum you could think of. Nothing will get it to work. It’s super frustrating and had I know it would be such a hassle I probably would’ve gotten an older iPad for him instead of this. Aside from that it’s a nice tablet for the price. My son really enjoys the Mickey Mouse case.

Perfect for toddlers
Bought this for my 2 year old for his birthday since we were going to be traveling. The bright red color is great, and the Mickey on the back my son loves! This is perfect for a toddler, it charges quickly, and holds a charge for days. The picture quality is good, not anything amazing but again perfect for a toddler. It was super easy to set up and immediately start using. I didn’t notice any advertisements, but it’s been a great tablet for a toddler. The case is sturdy, and does the minimum of what’s needed for a 2 year old.

Autistic proof 😍
This by far was a great purchase. I have an autistic grandson who loves to chew and bite everything. He loves to watch his shows and I knew unless there was a good protective covering it wasn’t going to last. This has been perfect. Now there are bite marks in it but it still works just the same. It has been a life saver for his tablet. I can’t imagine what the life of his tablet would have been without it. This is definetly a must for any child autistic or not. Thank you for durability.

My son loves it
This is my toddler’s 2nd one. He lives and so do I. I love the profile feature, that allows him to have his own under parental guidelines. I love that there is an offline mode when not connected to wifi. Sometimes it gets stuck, slows down or have a lagged reaction to commands. The first one we had for over a year, the only reason why we had to get another is because his dad accidentally dropped it in the tub. So no it’s not water proof. This one he has had for 7months. It’s starting to stall a little but it’s still going.

A little hard to navigate.
This item is cool. I love the case it came with. Definitely child proof. It’s for my 8 year old daughter. The only tricky thing I have faced with this item is installing an SD card for more storage and putting content onto the device. Like my own movies and such. It makes you go through hoops in order to transfer content from your computer to the device. You have to make sure that the file transfer option is enabled or you wont even see the devices storage devices on your computer. Every time you unplug it, you have to make this selection. I bought a 1TB micro SD card for the tablet(which is overkill) but I wanted to make sure my daughter had room for all her movies and t.v shows. For some reason the content would just stop transferring and I would have to go back into the device settings and change it back to file transfer for the devices SD card to even show up. Even the internal storage was not able to be seen. There are a lot of options to set up parental controls on this device which is very nice. Notifications for downloads and purchases of the like. Thats a good feature to have so that my daughter won’t hike my bill up just because she decided to buy some games. Over all this was a good buy and I would recommend buying a SD card for more storage as the internal storage is only 36GB if I believe. You don’t even get to use that much of it either. But all in all it runs great. Battery life is legit good and it charges well. Just make sure you use the charger that came with the tablet. Four stars in all. Well worth it in my opinion. Going to be using this device on a lot of upcoming road trips. It works wonders.

Great tablet, setup is tricky
My daughter loves this tablet. The setup took a while because i had to manually cancel the amazon kids free trial it advertises. If you get trial then the entire tablet is flooded with ads for terrible quality apps, but if you don’t use amazon kids, you’re actually able to control the content your kids can access.

Little slow
This is our second one. The package you get with the year subscription is a pretty good deal. There are many games and videos my 4 year old enjoys on this tablet. It can be a little slow and freeze up at times which makes it frustrating. I now let her use my old iPad which she seems to prefer. Will be going with Apple as she ages.

Great value for money
We bought this tablet for our 6 year old, and I was rather surprised at the quality of this tablet. Very easy to set up, great parental controls and the size is perfect for kiddos. Very fast for kids tablet. Huge upgrade from her last that costed more money. Very happy with our purchase! The biggest plus is it has all her favorite princesses on the screen! 🙂

Good first tablet
Works well for my 4 year old. I like that it comes with a Prime kids subscription and there is a lot of good content available for free. Some of the controls and functions aren’t the most intuitive (at least for an Apple user like me) so it has left me and my son frustrated a few times. Durable and light weight. Great first tablet for little kids. Battery life is excellent so far.

Small upgrade from last year, worth bundle if you like Kids+ service
Changes/Upgrades from Fire HD 8 Kids (2020) to Fire HD 8 Kids (2022):-CPU: Now with hexa-core 2.0 GHz CPU, previous version was quad-core 2.0 GHz CPU-BATTERY LIFE: Now claims 13 hours battery life, previous version was 12 hours-COLORS: Now in Blue, Purple, Disney Princess, and Disney Mickey Mouse; previous version was Pink, Blue, Purple-WEIGHT: Now 18.3 ounces, previous version was 19.4 ounces (weight including cases)-BUTTONS: The power and volume button locations have switched. In the new 2022 version the power button is closest to the corner, where the volume buttons used to be in 2020 version. Also, the USB-C port is a little closer to the headphone jack in the new version. (So, cases from previous version will not fit this year’s version)-RECYCLED MATERIALS: Now made with 35% post-consumer recycled plasticsCurrently the release price of $149.99 is $10 more than the previous Fire HD 8 Kids (2020 version). For this extra $10 you are getting a faster CPU, and a slight increase in battery life. So far for us, the faster CPU hasn’t been very noticeable, but it might become more noticeable in the future. Still, this is a pretty small upgrade, and if you have the 2020 version there isn’t much reason to upgrade to this one.*IS THE KIDS PACKAGE WORTH IT?First of all, let’s clear up some confusion. There were FOUR devices released at the same time this year: Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Plus, Fire HD 8 Kids, and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro. The HD 8 Plus has some improvements over the regular HD 8, like wireless charging and increased RAM. With the KIDS versions though, they are BOTH essentially REGULAR Fire HD 8’s (not Plus), bundled with the Kids+ service, 2-year warranty, and a case. The only difference between the Kids and Kids Pro versions, is that the Kids Pro is designed for older children; and so it includes slimmer case, a customizable home screen theme, and access to a digital store where kids can purchase content with parent approval. The actual hardware is the same, they are both regular HD 8s.Currently the regular Fire HD 8 (2022) is $99.99, so you are paying $50 more for the Kids bundle (case, warranty, and 1 year of Kids+ service). Is this worth it? Well currently a 2-year warranty is $12.99, a stand-up case for the HD 8 is $32.99, and currently Kids+ is $48/year for Prime members billed annually. So, if you are a Prime member and you were going to order all these things individually, it would cost you $193.97. This makes it seem like a good deal. Keep in mind though that you will continue to be billed $4.99 a month for the Kids+ service after your free year expires.Kids+ is something you might have to try out for yourself to determine if it is worth using. Our kids didn’t find it to be particularly great, and they were happy to just play games that didn’t require Kids+. Your family might feel differently though. Just remember to cancel Kids+ after a year if you don’t find it to be useful.

Great Started Tablet!
We bought this for our 2 year old who is now staying home and no longer attending daycare. We bought it and downloaded a ton of learning tools/games to help us make sure she is still meeting educational standards. She absolutely loves it and we do too! I know having a tablet for a child is a very versatile topic but we love using this to fit our needs to help her educational goals and then at bedtime we do allow her to watch a movie if she chooses!

Works Well For my 3 Year-Old, But Lags At Times
Purchased this for my 3 year-old son and he loves it! Watches Paw Patrol and plays games in his down time when he’s not terrorizing his older sister. Works great, I don’t know about it being worth the $180 we paid though…
My son loves it and had to have the Mickey mouse case. The picture is clean and I really love the fact you get Amazon kids for a year with it. As you should when you pay $180 for a 3 year old tablet. So I don’t know if it was worth that much when we could’ve bought a Google tablet from Walmart for $60 that’s made for kids. He finds it entertaining and I do like that all 4 of us can have our own profiles. Yes, when he falls asleep I most certainly watch it. Why? Because I can have all of my streaming apps on my profile as well. Such as Paramount, Disney, Hulu, anything I want. The battery holds up fairly well as far as charging goes. It’s great for any age to use. I like that I can control it from my parents dashboard and if he wants an app it not only sends a request to my email but it also texts me the request as well. (I’m not so good at staying on top of my emails lol) He has tons of games downloaded plus you can add an SD card to extend the memory.

This is the most durable tablet we have had.
I definitely recommend this tablet over the others my son left his on our fender and it went to a 10 minute drive down the road before it fell off we didn’t find it till the next day and it made it through the rain a ride without a scratch and was still unlocked with over half of its battery life! If that doesn’t make you want to buy it then idk what will. 🤣

Great value IF you have a little bit of savvy and know some tricks
My kid has autism and has used Fire 8 kids tablets as her main regulation and entertainment tool for about 6 years. I have learned a lot of valuable lessons about these tablets (we have purchased 10 so far, not kidding).Tips and Tricks to make this a great value:Always buy them on Prime Days, when they are up to 50% off.Make use of the worry-free guarantee! Amazon does not tell you this, but there is a way to use the 2-year worry free warranty that is fast and easy and works, it’s the customer service chat window. DO NOT CALL. DO NOT try to do a regular return or replacement. There is no automated way to do this, you must contact customer service, and by far the best way to do this is over chat. You will need the serial number which you can get to under the tablet’s settings (if it turns on, if not, you can still do the replacement. It helps to know when you ordered it). Make sure to tell them you are using the worry-free guarantee (no restocking fee). If you have your tablet’s serial number, or order number and date if it doesn’t turn on, you can get your return label in under 5 minutes in the customer service chat. The hardest part of this process is just finding the customer service chat and getting past the robot to connect to an actual human. This process does make the tablet worse for gifting as you really need to have it be under your own Amazon account to make this warranty return process smooth. You can make YouTube Kids work on these tablets with about 15 minutes of effort and a little tech savvy. You need to change a security setting and download and install some Google Play apk files. Search for instructions on installing the Google Play store on a Fire tablet and you will find them. This installs the entire Google Play store, which you can then use to get YouTube kids. Works fine, but YouTube Kids will not work in the “kid” mode of the tablet, only in the “regular” or “adult” mode. We’re OK with that. These tablets run out of storage fast. Save money and frustration by buying the smallest storage model and getting a cheap microSD card to expand the storage. This will show up as “corrupted” on the tablet but if you go into the settings you can format the storage to work.In summary, this isn’t the most straightforward or functional out of the box option for parents looking for YouTube kids in particular, and also, the warranty requires some knowledge to use. But it is an incredible value, as the tablet costs $75 on sale and comes with infinite free replacements for 2 years. Even with buying a microSD card it’s still under $100. At that price, we have 5 of them, and if one breaks and needs to be gone for a few weeks for a repair/replacement, no big deal. Also if the battery runs out, we have another one plugged in and ready to go.

Limited available apps
My son loves his device. He also enjoys watching YouTube Kids on my phone. I wish I could add it to his device. What’s weird is YouTube is available but not the kid version. Please pass this along Amazon review proofreader: add YouTube Kids and First by BabyFirst. Two great educational apps!

We love them and the new setting updates
We love our kids kindles. The content is amazing and so much of it. The free year of content is a big bonus. They have also done some updates to how you are able to manage stuff on there that has made it so much easier than it used to. We have had these in our house for a decade. They even have a function that you can set a setting to limit the max volume which is amazing. 🤩
