   Smokey Tawny Matte

   The product is nice, glides on well and stays all day. The only complaint is that the color is only a shade or so off my skin color so it’s barely noticeable. I may have olive undertones but I’m Caucasian so I can’t imagine having darker skin and using this color. It borders on what’s the point of putting it on. However, I can see myself getting other colors. I like the products enough.

   Will never go back to powder shadow – love these eyeshadow sticks!

   I now own about 6 or 7 of these Julep eyeshadow sticks, and I love them because they are much easier to apply and blend than powder eyeshadow (at least for me). The colors are great and I plan to buy more. I am fair skinned, gray eyes, and the Caramel Matte and Taupe Shimmer do a great job of complementing my skin tone and eyes.

   So Far, So Good…

   I’ve only had the product for a couple of days, but I applied the eye shadow,,, which was a dream þo apply..Went on super easy and consistent. I like the smudge tool on the opposite end, it really helped blend the color on my brow line. Once I applied the eye shadow, I went outdoors to do some chores. It was 90° and very humid. Low and behold, the eye shadow stayed put and did not run or smudge, I was very impressed, so for now, I gave the product a 5!

    Great light pink shimmer for olive skin.

    I bought this color for my tween daughter. We are of Pacific Islander decent so darker olive skin tone and this Rose Shimmer goes on perfectly on her with just the right amount of subtle color. Wanted some color but not in-your face since she’s still learning how to apply makeup. I like that this is waterproof and it blends so nicely into a powder finish.*PROS:Waterproof.Blends easily with your finger to a powder finish.Rose Shimmer is a beautiful subtle pink color against dark olive skin tones.*CONS:Top has a tendency to come off the applicator.

    Perfect Eyeshadow!

    Love this eyeshadow.

    This is my second Julep eye shadow stick. I’m 58 yrs young and wear less make up now as I’m older, but still want to look put together. This eye shadow stick goes on so smoothly and stays in place. I love the smudge sponge on the other end for blending. I stick with the more natural colors to just help make my eyes pop without looking overdone. I would highly recommend.

    Love the color and [somewhat] long-lasting wear

    I’ve been looking for a cream-to-powder eyeshadow stick that would last during the hot and humid summers of Virginia. Read a lot of reviews on the Julep brand and thought I’d give it a go. For the most part it stays on—and I really like how the color blends before it really sets. But after being outdoors at a concert and then running errands another day, I noticed the color didn’t really have the staying power I thought I was getting. Beautiful color, btw.

    Easy to use.. color ok

    From the picture I was hoping for a darker shade however it was actually quite lighter than what I had hoped for. I am going to order the charcoal to see if it gives me the effect that I am looking for.Other than the shade.. the application is easy and it does look nice.

    Will never go back to powder

    First, I am 53 years old. My eye lids are not as easy to apply eye shadow as they used to be. When I use powder, I end up looking tired because so much goes under my eyes. This glides on nice, but does need to be blended. You can use sponge blender that is on the other side or I prefer to use my brush. It stays on all day, even into next day when I am too lazy to wash makeup off. I will continue to use this product. Highly recommend.

    These are my new go to eye shadows! Very reasonably affordable. If you don’t like a lot of color get the lighter shades. They are buildable but lighter shades don’t get really dark. Darker shades will give you deeper color.

    Doesn’t irritate my eyes

    I have VERY sensitive eyes. I haven’t worn eye makeup in years bc most mascara & eye liners give me an instant headache. Someone I follow on IG mentioned that she uses this Julep eyeshadow stick Instead of eye liner. Complete game changer for me. I’m so happy to be able to fix up my eyes again without any issues.

    Not pink

    I point out the color because it really looked pink to me in the models photos even with different skin tones. As the name implies it is lilac. A true pale lilac that, depending on the lighting can look grey or white or lavender. Not pink. The formula is pretty good. Feels good going on and once it dries it’s long-wearing.

    Best eyeshadow ever

    I have never liked powder eyeshadow. I have very deep-set eyes and I couldn’t figure out how to make it look good. This eye shadow stick is so easy to use. I apply it where I think it belongs and I can easily blend it with my fingers to achieve a lovely blended eye. You can’t do that with powder. I also love the colors. There are options that give me a little sparkle but also matte when I just want to highlight. It’s the best and arrives very quickly on Amazon.

    I love these shadow sticks

    I’ve purchased four of these easy to use, highly pigmented shadow sticks: “Sand shimmer, Orchid shimmer, Smokey Tawny Taupe matte, & Putty matte. Below are my opinions on these colors and how they look on my very pale with pink undertones 60+ year old skin…”Sand shimmer” is a very pale neutral beige with a lot of pale gold glitter flecks, more than I was expecting or wanting in a highlight shimmer color.”Orchid shimmer” is a medium pinkish-purple with a lovely golden soft shimmer. You can increase the depth of the color by adding more for a nighttime look.”Smokey Tawny Taupe” is a gorgeous cool, light brown that is perfect for a natural daytime look on the lids.”Putty matte” is a cool, barely pale pink color that looks great as a daytime highlight color beneath my brows and on the inner corners of my lids.I might have to buy more colors!

    This is ok. The blush pink sheer shimmer is more sheer than blush pink (the pictures are a bit deceiving in that way), and more *sparkle* than shimmer. Would be better for a fun night out look, but for this late 30s mom it’s too sparkly for everyday. Does go on really smoothly. Just not right for what I need.

    Love the Creme to Powder shadow

    I tried this for the first time this Summer. I use it with e.l.f. shadow primer and it lasts all day. My eyelids are a little oily, and without primer, the shadow usually slides right off by mid day. So the combo of the primer and this creme to powder shadow last all day long. It’s my new go to combo, I love the putty matte and use another color as a liner close to my lashes and to contour the corner a little for shadowing.Love them!This order is actually my second order. I don’t want to run out.

    Excellent Product!

    So glad I bought this eyeshadow in the color “taupe shimmer”! I liked it so much that I immediately ordered the “cocoa” color. This shadow is high-quality, long-lasting, and a great value. Easy to swipe on, and the other end has a sponge tip for smudging.     Easy to blend, great staying power

    I use the julep eyeshadow sticks in desert matte and putty matte to create a very subtle smoky eye for everyday wear to work. Worked great alone, and as a base primer when I choose to add some shadow over top to add layers of color or extra oomph. The color is easy to blend when first applied, then sets and stays put all day long and into the night. Washes off well with simple face soap or soft pads/cloths. Does not fill into creases too much unless it is over applied. Very easy to travel with. I have these on auto order now.

    Such a smooth and overall buttery type glide on application!

    I have finally found my eyeshadow go to brand! This is my first purchase of this brands eye shadow and I was hesitant due to past experiences from my teenage years!I will be tossing out all my other stuff and only purchasing this brand and this formula.Glides on like a soft butter and feels totally weightless on the lid.Recommend a hundred times over!Color is gorgeous, looks quite dark but is perfect once applied, just enough color to know its there and yet does not give you a dramatic eye, perfect for daytime at the office but beautiful enough for a night out too.

    Received a used item! Color had unexpected glitter in it.

    I didn’t get to try this out because I received a used item. (And it appears I’m not the only one.) I was able to get a close look at it, and I was immediately disappointed with the color “mixture.” The item I selected wouldn’t have worked for me, regardless of any other issue.I’ve been curious about these eyeshadow sticks for a long time. I wanted to test them out years ago, but they seemed kind of pricey for my budget. I don’t like to spend more than I’m used to on an item I have no certainty will work as claimed. But then my friend told me she bought a stick on discount, and it was a game changer for her. (Easy to use, easy to blend, buildable color, quick application, lasts long, looks natural, etc.) She said she bought more and suggested I at least try one. She insisted they were worth the regular price… finding one on discount was just a bonus. We’re very much alike in what we look for in beauty cosmetics, so I was intrigued. I also saw there were a ton more reviews on Amazon than the last time I checked, and the majority of them seemed highly positive. So, I went for it. I felt I had the amount of guarantee I needed to justify testing this thing out.I got the sheer shimmery pink color to use as a highlighter and on the inner corner of my eyes for a brightening effect. But that’s not going to happen now. After I received my used product, I took a closer look at the reviews on Amazon – mostly to see if anyone mentioned unexpected problems with the same color I ordered. Instead, I noticed there were quite a bit of people who received what appeared to be used products, too!This is highly disappointing considering this brand seemed to have made a good name for itself over the last few years. I was really excited to finally try their infamously convenient and water-resistant eyeshadow stick. You’d think they’d be more careful about the products they’re sending out – especially for what they’re charging.My eyeshadow stick was undoubtedly used before I received it. Box was slightly crushed with signs of having been opened. The tip of the eyeshadow was smudged and there was product smeared on the outside of the barrel. If all that wasn’t proof enough, the sponge tip had makeup residue on it as if someone fully tried every part of this thing out.I can’t speak for the application and wear quality of the item because I’m not willing to risk transferring potential bacteria to my eyes, face, or even the back of my hand. I can say the expectation of the product was not met, right off the bat. I can also add that I was surprised that there looked to be big chunks of glitter in the shimmery sheer pink eyeshadow and on the sponge tip. (I wasn’t expecting such large specks of actual GLITTER to be in the mix. It wasn’t shown on the advertised photos or explicitly stated that cheap glitter would be used. I did expect some fine mineral-like shimmer, but not cheap glitter.)I’d suggest that if you buy this product, you thoroughly inspect it upon receiving it. Having cosmetics melt or break during shipment is one thing. But being sold a used product (advertised as new) is absolutely unacceptable. Especially, when there’s evidence of it be a reoccurring issue for this particular product.I’m debating whether or not I want to try ordering another color – only because my friend was raving about this eyeshadow like it was the best product she has found to date. If I do decide to take another chance, I’d likely play it safe and choose a matte shade. I can handle some amount of “shimmer,” but I feel I’m a bit too old and I don’t get dressed up enough to decorate my eyes with glitter. (I cannot stress enough: This was straight up large specks of GLITTER – almost like you’d find in a craft store or in young teens’ cheap & trendy makeup – mixed in with an otherwise nice looking shimmery/pearlescent color.)I’m just worried I’ll get another used product… or that the product was otherwise kept in unsanitary/uncertain conditions before I received it. I just don’t understand how this issue could happen so often. (Search thru the product reviews for yourself and count the number of complaints. You may not find it to be excessive, but I do. It really should be more of a rare occurrence. I haven’t found this many complaints of used/questionable products when researching other cosmetics I’m also interested in trying.)Also, avoid the shimmery sheer light pink color… unless you’re ok with random large specks of glitter. Then maybe go for it. The overall main color appeared nice with some shimmer to it already.

    This is all I use now!

    I decided to try Julep in champagne shimmer when it was on sale. The color is beautiful and can wear it for almost everything. I have gone through several sticks of this color because I wear it so much. I have purchased a few other colors but I use this the most. The eyeshadow itself is so easy to apply and blend and it stays on all day with little to no smudging. It will even still be on in the morning if I didn’t wash it off before going to bed. It works well with one color or multiple colors. I’ve used powders since using these and I hate how they smudge and transfer if touched.

    Beautiful and easy to use formula, perfect eyeshadow for travel

    Pros:Super easy to use. The eyeshadow literally glides on very easily with zero drag. Immediate color payoff and for shades that really show up on your skin, you need just one swipe. This part is definitely way better than the cheaper options (I’ve tried one other brand which was a fourth of the cost but is rough on my lids and requires a lot of back and forth to give me the same color payoff).They last long. I have not seen any issues with color fading through the day with these.Perfect for travel. I love throwing a couple of shades in my make up pouch without having to worry about packing a palette (and worrying about it opening and spilling all over) or brushes.Cons:As with any other make up product of course, some colors just don’t match the payoff you see in advertised photos. Which wouldn’t be as much of a problem if these weren’t $15+ per eyeshadow.I have four colors – the Smoky Tawny Matte and Ochre Matte barely show up on my lids. Although the advertised photos show color pay off on darker lids, I personally find it much lighter than the photos on mine (I have the typical south asian dark lids). Orchid shimmer and Sheer blush pink look amazing on my lids. Looks like the shimmer shades definitely help add some dimension to any base colored lids.Personally the pros outweigh the cons for me and I love this product! I’ll still use the shades that didn’t give a lot of payoff for everyday looks. I use very few colors on my eyes so I’d much rather save money and buy more of these eyeshadow sticks than expensive palettes where I’ll use maybe 2 out of 10-15 colors.

    These Julep eyeshadows ROCK!

    I’ve tried Thrive cream eyeshadow sticks and YUCK. Felt so heavy on my lids and the ‘matte’ really wasn’t matte at all. Thrive rubbed off w/in a few hours… but Julep goes on easy and STAYS ON all day long – feeling light on the lid. But, even though they are waterproof, I’ve had no problem washing off with a simple face wash. I’ve bought 4 so far and each are so pretty. i even bought a shimmer one that I love too. I plan to buy more…I’m a packaging gal too and the packaging is upscale! Thank you Julep for figuring out how cream eyeshadow can cut makeup time in 1/2 while exceeding expectations! I HIGHLY recommend!

    Pretty color- works well

    You get what you pay for. I was looking for an alternative brand to the other department store brands. But this one doesn’t last all day. It blends OK, I find that when I’m blending it with a brush it mostly comes off my eyelids and onto the brush. I noticed that some colors blend better than others.The colors are pretty and they go on nicely. If you’re on a budget, this is a great alternative.I love this style of eyeshadow. It doesn’t spread all over your skin like powders. It’s really easy and quick to apply. I like how you can use it as an eyeliner on the lower lid as well.

    Smooth and Long Lasting

    I have purchased this eyeshadow in two colors. They go smoothly as a cream and turn to a powder almost immediately. The other end of the eye shadow stick is a sponge-like tip that you use to buff the shadow. The eye shadow looks great, and I can rub my finger on my eyelid and barely any of it comes off on my finger. It stays on throughout the day until I take it off at night with a Neutrogena makeup remover cloth.
