From Schumacher’s line of wheel chargers, the SC1309 6-in-1 200A 6V/12V Wheeled Battery Charger and Engine Starter is built to meet heavy-duty charging needs. Suitable for a pro shop or a home garage, the charger has the power needed to start SUVs, trucks, and other large engines. It has a 200A engine start, a 40A boost mode for deeply discharged batteries, a 6A<>2A (12V) charge/maintain mode, and a 2A (6V) charge/maintain mode. Another pro feature is the built-in battery and alternator tester, which shows charge level and diagnoses electrical problems. Fully automatic, the SC1309 automatically detects the voltage of a connected battery and automatically adjusts the amperage rate during charging and maintaining. Great product it made a big difference !!!
Excellent quality and works great my SUB battery now starts like brand new. Before I used a small charger and the battery charge didn’t last very long, I thought it was the battery going bad but I decided to get a better charger and it was a big change; now I don’t have a problem with the battery going dead after 3 days if I don’t use the vehicle. I recommend this charger, I used it once and I got great results !!!

Worked so-so for a year and a half
After going through multiple cheaper chargers over the years, I broke down and spent nearly $200 on what I thought would be one that would last. Wrong. I’ve used it maybe a dozen times over the past year and a half; nothing over-taxing. I liked the larger design, reasonably light weight, and automatic features – but that’s apparently also it’s Achilles’ heel. Like many other reviewers have noted, one day it just decides it’s not going to charge. It powers up, allows you to select settings, but as soon as I press “start”, it comes on for a couple seconds then shuts off. No setting makes it work. Also as others have noted, the 200 amp starting setting is B.S. It has never produced that kind of current and would almost always shut itself off in that mode from a few months in (just about the time the return window closed.)Not recommended. But if you DO get it – definitely get the extended warranty. I pretty much never get those or recommend them, but this case, I highly recommend as it’s not going to last.Going to have to keep looking.

Charger quit right after warranty
Bought this charger in dec of 2018.I used it 2 times and it worked great.The third time I went to use it it would not read the voltage of any batterys.I may have done something. I dint belive so.I have been in and around the electrical field most of my life.But because it is out of a 90 day warranty period. I’m stuck with a 200 dollar charger after about 4 and halfMonths that is broke.I’d look else where. Maybe a comoany that stands behind there priduct sales a but longer and better.Update.To be fair. When I decide not to give up on getting a replacement.. I called the company back again.I Got a different Rep. The issue was resolved with a replacement.So all in all. I would recommend the charger.

Upon opening the box it looked like it was used and refurbished. Finish looked like trash, like it was cheaply spray painted. Also cables felt loose and looked like 2 screws were missing out of back. Returning for refund. Avoid this.

The media could not be loaded.
The unit won’t toggle back and forth from battery percentage, alternator percentage, and voltage. Video is right out of the box. It’s also not a 6 in 1 as advertised. Disappointed at this price point. Cheaper chargers look better.

Overall it is ok
This item did not arrive matching the images shown. Aside from that, it does work well. The wheels are cheap plastic, for the price that could be improved. I dislike the default settings, since I need to change them at almost every battery I connect to.The product does a great job at charging and maintaining a battery. I have used this on about 10 vehicles (I am DIY) and have not been disappointed. The flexibility of the battery cables is great, they do not stiffen in the cold we get here in the lowest of -20F. I am not so thrilled at the quality of the interface, I would prefer the older style of the switches and dials, but that is a preference.Looking back, I would have opted for the larger unit vs this one. There is more gains there than just amperage.

Didn’t last a year
We bought this for our vehicles and they charger didn’t even last a year. We used it maybe 10 times and now it doesn’t work amd even damaged one of our batteries so now we have to purchase a new battery and a better battery charger. Don’t waste your money on this product.

Works good… Presentation could use some work.
Opened the box and the top instruction operating decal panel was rolled up from the cardboard. I called the company and they said that they would send me a new replacement sticker (because I said I was going to send it back for a new one). They have yet to send it. 3 weeks now… Unit worked good. Just expect a decent looking unit when you pay the full price…

Appears to be a returned item
The charger arrived in a plain cardboard box. No factory packing whatsoever. The instruction sheet was laying on the bottom under the unit. No bag, nothing. As soon as the start button was pressed the unit would immediately turn off. Tried a different battery, same thing. Different settings, no luck. We have over 20 pieces of equipment. Some sit for a while. We just needed a charger to maintain 1-2 batteries. For starting, we use Ni-cad packs. Our last Schumacher Farm & Ranch charger lasted just 3 years of very light use. We’re now back to using the 40 yo craftsman that belonged to my dad.

I like it.
Simple to use. Light weight for a 200A charger. Times out when you crank for too long but has a timer so you know when it will be ready again. Very happy with this battery charger. Cheaper then a Napa charger ($245)With anything that is expected to roll over a shop floor the wheels are never big enough but I’m not holding that against the manufacturer as every company puts small wheels on these things. I have charge plenty of batteries with this thing but haven’t put it to the test yet in my opinion. I work on diesel trucks as well as heavy equipment. Haven’t tried starting a log truck with dead batteries yet but it won’t be long.

Powerful
This is pretty much as advertised. It charges, and can jump start. You’ll need a 20 amp circuit for sure on jump mode. I accidentally plugged it into a 15 amp, which was fine for charging and for the boost, but as soon as I went to do the jump start on the dead tractor it tripped.I moved it to the 20 and life was good.

I’m trying it.
I like the fact I don’t have to carry it around. The day it came I wasn’t home so my son opened the box and was using it when I did get home. It worked great on his car. I had him to hook it to my van that has been sitting for over a month with a dead battery. It was on it for I’d say 15 minutes and it fired right up. Well pleased the only thing there was no instructions that came with it but it says it auto I’m guessing that means just turn it on, and it’ll do what needs to be done.

Don’t Buy, not a well-made product, and very poor-quality control
I received the SC1309 today. Not well made and it didn’t work out of the box. Turned it on and it immediately goes off. I tried several 12volt batteries. The base was wobbly, so I checked out the bottom and found the wheelbase (Plastic) was a 2-piece design but there where different screws on each side holding them on the body. and there where rivets in scattered places on the bottom of the housing, like they didn’t belong. As if it was repaired. I also notice some of the rivets were holding the cover that wraps around the front and sides, where most of the cover were black self-tape screws. Another note is that the rivets were silver aluminum, I would think a factory rivet would be black to match the screws. Needless to say, I packed it right up and returning it first thing tomorrow.

Brought my completely discharged battery back to life
This device charged my completely dead car battery overnight with no issues. The control panel is very straightforward and easy to use. I like how sturdy the clamps are and the added ability to check the health of my battery and alternator. The percent charged status gave me peace of mind; it was nice seeing the number go up and to know that it was working. Though it has a metal housing, the unit itself isn’t excessively heavy (~30lbs). I am satisfied with this purchase.

Nice unit and it works fast
I bought this charger because I believe my new battery for my truck was dead. I let my truck sit for 4 months without driving. Opened the box, to find the product box, then pulled the unit out and lifted the handle. Plugged everything in after it was hooked up to my battery sitting on my deck. It took 5 hours to charge. Got the green light, then put my battery back into my truck. Truck still didnt start, but that has nothing to do with this charger. The charger did its job, plus it has multiple features and is a decent sturdy. Process of elimination to get my truck running again. I would tell you if you need a charger that works and works well, this is the unit for you. Costly but worth it.

It’s a good charger
If you have a car, you need a good battery charger. This one does an excellent job. Wasn’t that expensive. I’ve used it more than I thought helping the neighbors. Works every time.

Affordable charger, low learning curve 🙂 -works.
Had a 2010 vehicle that evidentially has a slow drain or short somewhere causing a dead battery a few times since it sits a few weeks at a time.This does have a small learning curve but if you pay attention on the gel battery setting you’ll realize it defaulted to it, your lights on vehicle may flicker and do odd things. Stop and check settings, once you have it on the typical settings, if you’re battery is still good, you have it charged up from dead to functional in about an hour or so.Unit is decent, not heavy at all like a welder, I would say it is adequate to light to medium duty. If you have bigger monsters to charge like V8 – V10 diesels you may want to get a metal constructed shop model that can take a few beatings and still work.For me this is good enough to get things charged up without having to back things out and jump them and then drive for a day, it was starting to get a little annoying.

Not good.
I got today tried to charge a battery and it shut off 1 second after turning on and kept doing it.Tried on 2 more batteries and same issue.Update: Bought one from another company where I could bring it back if it didn’t work out of box (do to limited selection), so far it hasn’t failed me yet.
