Not easy to close- ain’t what it used to be
I owned an older model from this company that was easier to open and close. (unfortunately, after many years the door came off)This model has a plastic handle and the workings aren’t as smooth as the older model. Closing it takes some fiddling and at times seems like it won’t close. It is annoying when one is in a hurry.

Watch out for Water Protection
Safe is what I expected. Good construction. I got the standard dial lock. I don’t trust batteries. I was not happy knowing the water protection is voided when you secure the safe with the included hardware. There is no mention of this voided warrantee in the online description. You read it in the manual that comes with the safe.

Exactly as expected at a GOOD PRICE
I’ve been shopping for a fire (security) safe for months now and until now couldn’t find one that had relatively good reviews and at a reasonably price. We’ve all read the other reviews and I agree and confirm most everything. It arrived in perfect condition by UPS. Paint finish is quite good and has a thin oily residue. The interior was clean, and the caulking around plastic interior and steel case was applied well. The shelf is thin and sags readily with any weight (My documents will be on this shelf.) The plastic combo dial works well and has loud clicks. Numbers are easy to see in low light. The key lock is nice for extra security should someone learn your combo. Exterior hinge? Not the best idea. The door inside has a pocket that fits a small frame pistol such as a 380.To in icrease weight: On the bottom of the safe I put about 20 boxes of 40cal ammo. In addition I will keep 5 handguns and some valuables. This adds at least 50lbs+. Now it’s VERY difficult to move.I have no illusions that these safes will protect valuables from a determined thief. Safes actually would be one of the first things a thief would want because valuables are normally concentrated there. My safe will be a DECOY and have documents, passports and a few handguns. Other valuables (emergency cash, gold, expensive coins) will be stashed elsewhere inconspicuously out of sight.Hope this helps you.Note: Once the safe is opened it can be locked and unlocked with the key only as long as the combo dial isn’t turned. You need to turn the combo dial to relock it completely.Note 2-27-13 (1 year): I use
Eva-dry Renewable E-333 Wireless Mini Dehumidifer
to keep the safe dry for a year now. The safe must be reasonably well sealed, One of these keeps my save very dry at < 40% relative humudity.I am quite happy with the purchase. Thanks to all of you that reviewed this and other safes.Note:Ships from and sold by Amazon.com 31 people found this helpful

Medium size perfect for documents.
The handle and dial feel cheap. However; This isn’t a business quality safe. For the price, I’m happy. I just organized 300 docs in their folders. I still have plenty of space to store cash, precious metals, reserve medications, and immediate docs like passports, SS cards. It’s peace of mind to have all of my docs and valuables in one place. It’s 90 lbs. It’s move able if you have 10 mins. I was able to bring it up my Victorian servant staircase. It was wasnt easy but not impossible. I bought for fire protection and a space to put my MacBooks and jewelry in when I have contractors in my home. Threw it in the closet. Can drape a blanket over it, you’d never notice it.

Key is pretty useless, cannot set own combination
Description and details indicated that the key was a alternate way to open the safe (aka use either key or combo), and the combination was user changeable. Once I received the paperwork clearly says the Combination is fixed and can’t be changed, and the key only functions as a way to disable using the combination.

Good fire safe, mediocre theft prevention
The safe is just OK. It will probably provide fire protection as described, but don’t expect it to be adequate for theft prevention. The outside shell is rather thin sheet metal with three separate pieces forming front, back and side walls. The shell is filled with some clay like material for fire protection and the inside is plastic. The door hinges are outside and do not look very solid either, it will probably take 5-10 minutes to someone with a dremel tool to cut them off completely. The locking mechanism works fine, no complains here.First shipment arrived damaged – the packaging box didn’t show any damage, however after unpacking I discovered a couple of big dents on the rear wall. It looks like the package has been dropped; the impact wasn’t hard enough to destroy the carton box, but it was bad enough to put a big dent on the safe and the rear wall came apart from the side in a couple of places creating a gap big enough to put a screwdriver in. It makes me think that a thief will only need to drop it hard just once and then continue with the pry bar to completely destroy it. I had to send the safe back to Amazon for replacement (UPS not showing up for a pick up is a separate story – had to bring the box myself to the UPS store).Credits to Amazon – they have sent a replacement promptly and helped me to resolve shipping problems with UPS. Second safe arrived in a much better shape, although also had a couple of small dents on the side wall. I decided to keep it because the dents did not cause any structural damage to the safe. I bought it for the fire protection in a first place and going to keep it for that reason, but I was quite disappointed with this safe’s overall quality. Obviously, it is hard to expect any reliable theft prevention for this price, but then Sentry Safe should clearly market it as a fire safe only. Better packaging would also be very helpful to prevent shipment damage. To sum up – probably good fire protection for the price, but do not expect it to be nearly adequate for any theft prevention. It will protect your valuables only on the following conditions: 1) you bolt it down well so it cannot be removed, 2) the thief would not have any tools handy to break in or cut off the hinges.

Lots of room!
I actually bought this for a friend. It arrived yesterday he loves it. He is mainly using it for paperwork. There is plenty of room. He had a 12 inch lock box before that was way overloaded. This holds all he had in there and there is quite a bit extra room still. It’s very heavy. No one is going to easily walk off with it and it can be bolted to the floor. Took a few practice tries with the key to get it right(a little different than the directions). Definitely a great price especially with Amazon free shipping. I may actually pick one up for myself. Seems very sturdy and not a bad looking safe. Hopefully he never needs to worry about it being fireproof.

Good safe at this price point
At this general price point, the SFW123DSB safe is a strong choice. The quality of the locking mechanism seems about average (a bit “plasticky” like many of the other brands), but the 4 large bolts that actually engage with the body of the safe seem very solid. It would be nice if the hinges were recessed and harder to get at but they do promote the hinge bar as “pry resistant.”The safe is just barely wide and deep enough to store documents (in tab folders) arranged in either direction (sideways or front-to-back) which is nice. As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s a good idea to toss in silica packets or canisters no matter what climate you are in if you wish to keep documents in the safe. The adjustable shelf and the door containers are great for flexibility and access to particular items.I do wish they had included a recessed loop from which to secure the safe via steel cable (not everyone can take advantage of the bolt-down system) as one more layer of theft protection. One thing to note if you are comparing safes and prices is that Sentry Safe makes a lot of variations for this safe. So when you compare, be sure to note the full model number and check the Sentry Safe web site to see what features are different. Even among the 123 models that have the dial combination mechanism (I chose dial combination so that I was never at the mercy of batteries to be able to open the safe) there are a lot variances. Some are water resistant, others aren’t (look for SFW instead of SF for that feature). The differences between model numbers could be as simple as external color, but if not you may end up with less protection than you thought. This SFW123DSB on Amazon seemed among the best of the dial combination safes in this size. Plus, free shipping for a 90 lb safe is pretty impressive. I’m happy with my purchase and it arrived in good condition.

Nice safe!
Was easy to bolt to the floor and has lots of space for items. If you do bolt it down which I would highly advise the directions state that it won’t be waterproof if submerged. Hopefully we never have to find out. We bolted it so if there was a break- in thieves couldn’t walk off with the HEAVY safe. The combination lock is easy to operate verses the First Alert safe we also have.

Excellent product
The combination lock seems a little wonky, but works fine. No problems at all. It is exactly as described, and I feel safer having important papers etc. locked in it. We did not bolt it down, but I don’t believe anyone is going to pick it up and carry it away. Would definately buy again.

Defective safe was replaced with a good one easily, conveniently, and free.
Combination to safe didn’t work, so a return as defective was authorized. They arranged for a pickup, picked it up, and issued a refund within a few days. While I was waiting for that return, I ordered the same safe from the same seller, and got one which works just fine. It’s close to perfect, except that it has a plastic handle which seems like it can be easily broken off if the wrong person finds the safe and attempts to break in. Sentry safe 18 X 24 X 18 inches. It’s also too heavy for an average person to pick up and walk away with, especially if it has anything inside it.

Great Home Safe
I purchased this particular safe to protect our valuables as well as important papers that are very hard to replace: Marriage license, Security Cards, Titles, Birth Certificates, Passports, My military records, etc. This safe is pretty heavy and hard to handle even though it is only weighs 100 lbs. I was a bit disappointed about the need to drill holes in the safe to be able to bolt the safe to the floor. This renders it no longer water proof. I think the fine people at Sentry could have made some threaded holes with plugs to keep water out and then your could remove the plugs and thread in the bolts, thus sealing the safe to protect from water. Just my thought. Also to avoid drilling the holes, I am thinking of going to the bank and get $50 of pennies and put at the bottom of the safe for additional weight to even further deter a would be thief. That would add about 30 lbs. Or I may just put some weights in there. Not sure yet but don’t wanna take up a lot of space. I do think it is a very functional safe for the average home. It has lots of room so the extras I wish to put in there should be fine. You will not be disappointed if you buy one. And as others have stated, it is a lot cheaper at Lowe’s, Walmart and Academy, but not by much. The free delivery made it worth it so I would not have to load it and take it in the house. UPS guy put it right where I needed it! So there is the “free shipping cost”.

Works well, very secure
It weighs a little over 100 pounds. The delivery man carried it by himself and place it in our entry way for me. The combination lock comes with a pre-set combination that cannot be changed. It comes with a key also. The key is not a backup for opening the safe when you forget the combination. It is a second lock. If you use both the combination and the lock to lock it, you need both to unlock. It reminds me of the movie As Good As It Gets where the Jack Nicholson character had seven locks on his apartment door. I don’t use the key lock. The instructions tell you to open the door once a month to air it out, and every six months put the drying package in the oven to dry it out. I have been following those instructions. I don’t understand how it gets too moist inside if you don’t follow those instructions.

Almost perfect
For what it is—a safe—it’s perfect: waterproof, fireproof, heavy, well-built, etc. but there are a few things that could be better:1. If you want to bolt it down it voids the waterproof guarantee since you have to drill through the safe. 2. The combination isn’t changeable—it’s factory set. 3. The painted lines around the numbered dial are thick/sloppy so turning the dial to the exact line is not as easy as it could be. It would be better if the lines were laser engraved. 4. The inside is much smaller than the outside because of all the concrete in the walls of the safe. You may want to opt for the next size up. 5. The shelf is plastic so I wouldn’t put a lot of weight on it.

Meh, not bad, not great.
This inexpensive fireproof and waterproof steel safe is mediocre. Like so many things these days the devil is in the details. For example it is not waterproof if you use the supplied bolts to anchor it into the floor. They use the word “steel” and make it look metallic but the exterior parts are plastic. The locking lever, the combo dial… plastic. The supplied tray is…. you guessed it…. plastic and it warps with just a few pounds of weight. Overall, I would rather of spent more and got something more durable.

It’ll do for documents, jewelry, coins
About as expected. One minor issue was a 4″ gouge on the side which means more thorough inspections and/or better handling procedures are needed. This unit should have been sold as a second. It does not deserve a top rating.

So far so good
This safe seems to be sturdy enough. It has a dial rather than the digital entry I was used to so I had to adjust to that. I think I prefer the push buttons of the digital but I’m doing ok with the dial now. Haven’t had to test the water resistance yet and hopefully never will. I purchased the bag that was offered separately to keep the most important documents and other precious things in and I really like that. Very good idea if one has to leave the house quickly in an emergency.

Ours was damaged
We needed a safe for some documents and jewelry. Nothing too big. Ours arrived with a dent on the upper right corner and the handle was pushed past the intended opening point. All we can assume is we got someone else’s problem that was put back into stock. It’s pretty heavy and awkward for a couple of older people to muscle around a return through UPS. If you can find something locally you might be better off.

The handle is flimsy
I believe I read this on some other reviews. The safe itself seems to be a very good quality, but the handle on the lock could use some beefing up.

Unsurpassed quality!
I have purchased several safes in the past from Sentry. The safest are always of the highest quality and I have complete confidence in these safes. I truly prefer the hand combination safes versus the digital as there is never an issue with a mechanical digital failure. This safe also has a second security with a key. Water tight and fireproof. Perfect for a home safe and will keep your valuables safe in the event of a fire or water damaging occurrence. Highly recommend this safe.

Sentry Safe for valuables
The safe is big enough for our needs, yet same enough to put in an inconspicuous location. The manual combination, and addition Key backup lock is nice, makes it harder to open even if someone knows the combination. Its also heavy enough to make it difficult.to carry off, if not bolted to the floor. Bolts included to do so if want to make it harder to remove.

It wasnt necessarily easy and this thing definitely wont walk away from you
This is a review for the model with the combination lock w/ the key option. Im going to try to answer most of the questions that people would have about the safe with my review. I only give this a 4 star review because I personally think they should have made the dial of the safe out of metal and could have improved the locking mechanism. The safe weighs a little over 90 lbs but slides really well on carpet, something to keep in mind. Im a 30 year old male 6’0 , 185 lbs. I had to basically bear hug this thing and huff it up the stairs. It wasnt necessarily easy and this thing definitely wont walk away from you. My concern however is that one decent sized person could walk out of my house with the safe with all of my valuables inside. If youre buying it for the fire/security aspect of it, I’d recommend bolting it to the ground which is what i did. Once you do that, its no longer water proof so keep that in mind. If youre going to mount it youre going to need a 7/16 and a 9/32 drill bits, otherwise its really simple. Read the instructions and drill the holes from the outside. For those asking about the key, its an additional security measure, not an alternative means of entry. You can however dial in the code and then use the key to lock/unlock the safe although thats not the way that i would personally use it. The reviews that say its not safe for guns or ammo should be taken with a grain of salt in my opinion. In the event of a fire, things get hot and combustion of ammo is a real concern. I just wonder what would normally happen to your ammo in the event of a fire outside of the safe? the manufacture is always going to CYA. The last rub ive heard about this safe is that is it doesnt have internal hinges so in theory, someone could cut the outer hinge and break in. Im just going to tell you that that isnt going to work. The only way youre going to get in to the safe is with the combination, a locksmith, or enough time with brute force

The combo lock is plastic.
If I had known that the combo lock was plastic I wouldn’t have bought this. Why would they make it that way?! Strange. Everything else is great. Heavy, good quality except for the lock. I like the size. It’s a little bigger than most but yet small enough to fit in closet. I’m still trying to figure out how I would open it after a fire. The plastic would melt off even if it wasn’t in direct contact…

This is a hefty fireproof safe for storing your important papers.
My son talked me into ordering a safe instead of relying on a bank box. So… I have a very heavy safe now for my papers, and he can get them if he needs to. It’s good to have a safe place for important papers and to have someone who can take care of your affairs if you are incapacitated (make sure to give that person has your combination and be sure you can trust them). A safe is less expensive and roomier than a bank box. And you can take it if you move, although you may need a hefty dolly…

Pretty good
My save arrived packed in a heavy duty cardboard box with a flimsy piece of Styrofoam lying on both the top and bottom, ostensibly to keep the safe centered in the box. Guess what? It has a small dent in the back on one corner about halfway down the safe. It also had a dent underneath the plastic trim on the top. almost looks like someone already took a pry bar to it. (see 2 photos with circles). Also almost at the back corner where the pieces of the safe join, it bows out slightly. However, it is that way on both sides so I assume that has something to do with the way it is made (see pic with arrows). The locking mechanism and handle feel CHEAP. The handle seems like it would easily break off. I could see it happening if you had kids rough housing around it. It’s just plastic, and not even a super sturdy plastic. Even when the safe is locked, you can move the handle down about half an inch and you can feel the bolts inside move a little. I am sure the handle would break off before someone could force the bolts open, but I do not like that at all. The dial on the combination lock is also a cheap plastic. I think the combination lock on my high school locker might have been more sturdy. I was pretty disappointed in that. It was super easy to unlock if you just followed the directions in the manual that came with it. Also, I noticed the “white film” people were talking about, but seriously? Just wipe it down. You should anyway. Bringing something out of a factory into your home. That is a petty complaint. The inside of the door has a few hooks and a pocket. That is a cheap plastic as well. However, the inside of the main compartment is really nice. It doesn’t feel cheap at all! It is quite thick. Both the drawer and the tray seem pretty sturdy, and you can easily move them up or down to modify the space to suit your needs. I’m very pleased with the inside.Overall the safe seems heavy duty and pretty well made other than the handle and lock. While I’m not thrilled about that or the dents I do feel like this safe will keep my things protected. My concern is that if there was a fire or burglary, the handle/lock interface would melt or be ripped off and then how would I get in it? Guess that’s why it says they will replace it in those instances bc it’s going to take a torch to get in it.Would I buy it again? yes, I think I would.

Not What I’d Hoped For
I liked going to a safe that was 2X bigger than what I previously had. And I went from an electronic combo lock (which crapped out 5 years after I bought the safe), to a dial. It’s definitely a heavy safe. And this is where the sadness starts. Like others, when I opened the box, I thought I’d got lucky. But upon removing the safe from the box, I found the bottom back corner dented in. Cosmetic damage to be sure. Sentry tells me it’s not going to affect the safe’s functionality. But wouldn’t you think that a company as big as Master Lock would know that when you package a 125 pound safe, it better be protected well … especially the corners? Well, no hardened cardboard corners or other hard protection for this safe. Just a piece of box-centering styrofoam around the bottom and top of the box.To be honest, the box didn’t look crushed or bad on that bottom corner. That leaves me wondering if the safe was boxed in Mexico with an already dented corner?Like other customers, it’s too heavy to mess with returning. Amazon was kind enough to make an adjustment that I can live with. The first time I spun the dial, it sounded clicky and would seem to get stuck in various places. But after going through the combination and opening the safe, the dial seemed to come out of its noisy phase and now seems fine. Perhaps in shipping, the mechanism got ” out of whack”.The mechanics are plastic or nylon, and pot metal. Again, not what I’d expect for a $400 safe. But it is what it is. I’m only looking for place to keep important papers and such, and hope if there is a fire or flood, that the things inside stay protected. Sentry will replace the safe if these things happen. I’m guessing because they know that a fire will destroy the mechanism.Overall, I guess I’d have to say I’m “okay” with the purchase.

Flimsy combination lock
While the safe feels solid and sturdy, I am disappointed with the flimsy plastic combination lock and the cheap plastic used on the inside of the door. I hope I never have to find out, but I doubt the plastic combination lock would survive a fire. Weighing 80 pounds, the safe would be difficult to carry off, but I don’t think it would take much effort to break the plastic combination lock and gain access. I wouldn’t trust my valuables to this safe.

Very pleased with this safe.
No stranger to using combination locks, I found the instructions difficult to follow to open the safe initially. I used the QR code listed on the safe only to find it a dead end for help. Receiving it in a Saturday, I waited until Monday and then was able to open it. The combo didn’t actually match the instructions, which I thought could have been explained better. Over all, in the months I’ve had it, I have no complaints. I’d recommend this for anyone who needs to keep things at home, but in a safe place.

DO NOT BUY!
I bought this safe after my mother passed away to store documents, coins, stamps and a couple antique metal items. Nowhere in the Amazon description, provided by SentrySafe, are there any warnings about what not to store. The images that SentrySafe provides show books, a camera, and what looks like photo albums, none of which are in airtight containers. The first description is on Amazon “…safe for irreplaceable documents, valuables, DVDs, and USBs…”. How I read that is that if you can store irreplaceable documents, USBs, and such than it is safe to store a wide range of items.I haven’t opened the safe for a month or so and opened it to add some items. The first thing I noticed was a strong odor of mildew. I removed some items, and they were moist, as I checked other items some leather products were covered in mildew and the antique metal items were starting to rust. I then got out the manual and I noticed that it states, “SentrySafe products which offer fire protection have a proprietary insulation that has a high moisture content”. The safe did come with three large moisture packets which I left in. Then it continues “DO NOT store delicate items directly in your safe”. It then goes on to list jewelry with working parts, watches, stamps, or photos. SentrySafe recommends putting them into an airtight container to protect against moisture. Then it goes on to state, do not store pearls, computer disks, audio-visual cassettes, or photo negatives? What the hack can you store in it then? So, after I received the safe the first thing I did was find the combination and how to open it, simple. I put the manual away, loaded it up and then locked it only to find irreplaceable items being ruined. Yes, I should have read all the warnings in the manual but saw no indication of any “warnings” in the Amazon description on what and what not to store. But come on folks, do you read all the warnings with new products? We know not to put kids in refrigerators or plastic bags, don’t use a hair dryer in the bathtub, or knives are sharp. The warnings should have been listed in the Amazon description as well as a warning tag on the safe.I contacted Amazon regarding this issue but since the safe is over a year old they wouldn’t do anything. So, I tried calling SentrySafe (mid-day) but was on an indefinite hold pattern and hung up. I’ll try again in the morning and wait it out to see what the response will be.Update: I tried calling back the next day but once again I hit a long hold time. I’ve now contacted them via email and the automated reply states they will call me within 3 days, we shall see? This post will be updated with the response from SentrySafe, stay tuned!

Overall Good
My scale has issues, but I can say that this safe weighs somewhere between 120 – 125 lbs. It has an actual, usable inside volume of 1.91 cubic feet. I am not counting the additional open space of the grooves that the shelves and drawers can slide into. ((Those grooves give you another 20+ cubic inches.)) The safe was packaged well and arrived in great condition. It only took 3 days to arrive. It is very sturdy. Its handle and dial are flimsy, but I expected that. The hinge is on the outside, but if it were removed the door would still be difficult to open (assuming the locking bolts were still locked in place on the left side of the door) because there is a long tongue and groove-like structure between the door and the case on the hinge side. Just what we needed!!
This safe is just what we needed! It’s strong, roomy, easy to operate and we are so glad we went with the manual dial instead of the electronic–we don’t have to worry about replacing batteries or the electronics not working since….there aren’t any! It’s just a basic manual dial safe. It has a very solid feel and locks up tight! When turning the dial, though, you want to remember to just hold the lever up a bit and you will see how easy it turns by doing that. It’s a roomy safe and has two inserts-one a tray and the other a bin, to use for keeping items separated. We like that you can easily adjust both the tray and bin to fit your needs. The combination is preset at the factory and is shown on the back cover of the manual. Make sure to make a note of it some place safe where you can easily find it. The manual also shows the serial number for you so that’s good to have in case any issues come up. We drilled into, and through, the floor so did not need the concrete bolts. Actually, we used a couple of 7/16″ bolts we had and also the matching nuts and cinched them up nice and snug. Make sure when you drill that you drill from the outside of the safe, not inside. The Bosch drill bits went through the metal easily. We then righted the safe and used a brush to clean out the debris. Some of the debris is sharp so watch for it. The door closes nice and snug however the drilling compromises the waterproof feature but it’s well off the main floor so that was not an issue but it is something you want to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to anchor the safe.We read the directions before doing anything and they are very clear and easy to follow. All in all, a great safe and we are very happy with it!!A further note: The bottom of the same is very smooth and we were able to slide it along to it’s permanent location!! (We are seniors so paid the fee to have it delivered inside our home. It weighs 125 lbs. so it was well worth it to have the delivery men bring it inside)

You get what you pay for.
After researching various home safe options, I settled on this 1.23 cubic foot SentrySafe model. Right out of the box, its heft immediately instills confidence – this thing is built like a tank.Installation took some muscle since it weighs 86 lbs, but the included instructions made bolting it down straightforward. Once secured, I felt reassured knowing it meets rigorous fire and waterproof testing standards.Setting up the combination was easy enough. I appreciate having the backup override key too for redundancy. The robust lock mechanism with live-locking bolts seems incredibly pry-resistant.With the safe ready to go, I started transferring important documents, USB backups, passports, and family heirlooms into the roomy interior. The single shelf helps keep things organized nicely. What provides peace of mind is knowing the contents are protected from fire for up to an hour at 1700°F. The waterproof rating up to 8 inches is reassuring too after seeing footage of homes flooded.Overall, this mid-sized safe from SentrySafe seems like it will securely safeguard my most vital possessions for years to come. The quality construction and straightforward security features make it simple to have that protection. Definitely money well spent for preparedness.

Home Safe
I was thrilled to see my safe delivered in my garage when it arrived. The first thing I noticed was how hard it was going to be to move the safe where I wanted it to be placed; it needed two people and one of those fork lift things that the ups workers use (dont laugh, im not savvy.)After getting it to its destination I opened it up (upside down, but thats my fault) and the vault was already unlocked, but it a closed manner, and had all of the paperwork (lifetime warranty, readme, license, etc) in the box but outside of the safe. The code for the safe comes on a sticker on the back of the readme booklet and it CANNOT BE CHANGED.(The company states that this can be a benefit to the user if you choose to register your safe with the company; they can retrieve your code) It also comes with two keys, the keys do not override the combination lock, only adds another layer of security (which I enjoy). Also, I would like to take some time to explain a CON that most people would complain about that I’d like to bring to justice a little bit.. The hinge for the safe is on the outside of the container as you can see on the picture, however the hinge is very solid and bolted together on both ends, it would take a mass amount of force to break the seal off of the hinges also. But lets say that an intruder DOES break the hinge off; the way the indentions inside of the safe are made, you will not be able to pull the lid off of the same without being able to close the metal bars of the door, which will not happen without the key or code (or both) if it is locked.Safe was also made possible to bolt into the floor and it comes with the bolts and nuts to do it, but I find it unnecessary.. it will be hard enough getting it out the door.. I suggest putting the safe under a desk, shelf, or under some items that can add to the complexion of removing your safe. (Adding 30 pounds of items into your safe will already change the weight to over 120 lbs)PROS: Heavy, very secure, change-able shelf racks, dual security feature, keyring hangers, waterproof, fireproof, worth the price, comes with one absorbent pouch which will last for a while.CONS: Cheap inner shelf (Not for things over 15-20 pounds), password cannot be changed*, may sit unevenly***The company (Sentry Safe) states that the code cannot be changed and it for YOUR security, just in case you lost your password they can send you your code or key again.. if your like me your questioned reasoning and security behind this, but hear me out.. In order for you to get another copy of your code/keys you have to fill out a form that they send you (originally, with the safe) and you have to fill it out entirely, giving your first/last name, address, and all the usual stuff, and also your unique ID number for your safe.. Well that happens to be located inside your safe and on the sticker with your password on it, so if you wish, you could keep it a secret or even destroy the ID number so not even the company who designed the safe will be able to tell what code/key you need. Hope that clarifies questions.**I also believe I have an uneven floor, but I’ve read another guy’s review stating the same thing.. I just slipped the package of screws they gave me under the corner.VERDICT: I love my safe, Im sure they’re are better and more secure beasts, but for the money you CANT beat it, it gets the job done.Hope I’ve helped,Cheers!
