decent amongst collagen peptide products; packaging could be less wasteful; nails shinier but not astounded; also, not organic?
Not sure why so much focus on the taste; are people afraid of tasting something “weird” like bones? I personally like the taste and for coffee/morning shakes the normally slightly sweet taste adds to the taste and texture.This is a pet peeve I don’t know if other companies do as well; the safety seal is an unidentified combo of plastic/paper/too stiff to be either, I hope it’s not foam (neurotoxic). It inevitably does not all rip off so you end up with glue and pieces of the seal either still on it or all over the place. I don’t want to eat that glue so I take off as much as I can with tweezers. If it was just paper I’d just leave on most of it to cover the glue. because the glue will not come off unless I use some kind of metal spatula and that’s more OCD than i like to go for collagen peptides of debatable efficacy.I appreciate the “family company” concept but their company name Sports Research (??) and tone – abrupt, “scientific”, facile use of health buzzphrases (grass fed without clarifying or ignoring the organic question); abrupt stock answers to Q&A or ignoring those inconvenient to answer, or eliding the question with additional info like the dissolvability and “it mixes with anything!” Instantly! “it’s tasteless” Nothing is tasteless and if it was that would be strange. Bygones; people want to know if it works and if it has chemicals that will eventually kill us. Grass-fed is great; i doubt as one respondent said “they’re always kept in pasture and no chemicals touches the collagen ever” – there is a multi-step process from killing the cow to removing things from things then purifying and drying the thing. No chemicals ever touched it? That’s not even what the person was asking. They just wanted to know if there were pesticides on the grass. Reasonable question.As for the much vaunted dissolvability, it is not. Sorry. Is this make or break? no. like a reviewer said, they’d lick this off the floor for what it does for their XYZ, can’t even remember.If it’s not just overcompensation on their part and distraction from real questions, and it actually matters—it is somewhat dissolvable. I haven’t noticed much more so than gelatin. It is easily dissolvable in hot water but then again not as thick or flavorful as gelatins i’ve tried so it doesn’t improve the taste of coffee as much.. So the very qualities people tout as deserving of much mention are the qualities i don’t see as positive or relevant.I can see how it’s important that it be soluble; it is. It doesn’t remain a solid block in room temp water. –If you don’t mix it with a utensil it will however be a clump at the bottom and you’ll have to keep putting water in there to loosen it up. After four glasses of water it should be mostly gone. You have to drink a lot of water with collagen or protein anyway.One of the good parts of its not-easily-dissolvability is the fact that it thickens things. like Bulletproof coffee. And maybe soup. I personally don’t see why people would use this when they can make bone marrow soup. Time, i suppose. then again so much time is spent reading these reviews to figure out what’s real what’s not. Hence I’m writing a lot because I feel despair at the lack of unbiased yet informed detail in reviewland.In terms of the other quality people describe in positive terms, yes, this product seemed more tasteless. I don’t know what it means except maybe it’s been processed a bunch. or maybe it’s “pure” which usually means processed. Unless the taste is so disgusting that it prevents digestive juices from flowing and affect the bioavailability, I don’t see how this is a point of pride.People do seem to have a lower tolerance here for new/weird tastes so, perhaps i consider taste to be secondary to function.I don’t notice much difference in skin, hair, or nails. My nails might be more shiny. But not thicker. Maybe they got longer after awhile. This is the second time I’m getting this product to give it another chance. Tbh the fact of the lack of response on the organic question, and the fact of the military-level seal and plastic enclosure having no effect on the amount of collagen dust outside the container (at first i thought, yay, no safety seal. i’d rather have a dusty outside than deal with foam or bits of paper/plastic) but no. two levels of seal protection and lots of dust. furthermore i don’t know if peptides do anything especially if not organic grass fed. apparently this makes a big difference.i understand it’s a tough market, Sports Research. i’m sorry to leave a less than raving review, but what i say holds for many of the other companies as well. the price point is low, and if i had the inclination i’d keep trying it, if i were looking to collagen peptides as a solution for a specific issue. like i said it gave me shinier nails, and i’d have to try it longer to see if any of the other claims are true. in which case i don’t understand the point of a 30 day supply if it is explicitly not long enough.Please feel free to correct me if you disagree on any of these statements or know something I don’t know. I am a gym girl definitely a health nut. I’m really big on supplements & vitamins .. Collagen is definitely needed so many benefits. It is amazing on the hair the nails, and skin a very easy daily supplement to add to smoothie or protein shake or a cup of tea. The value is definitely worth it. I mix it daily with my protein shake after a good gym workout.. I get the unflavored so there’s no smell. It mixes very well with whatever you mix it with .No chalky taste. Definitely a must have have ordered this several times and will continue to do so definitely five stars..

My favorite for years
At this point I have been using these collagen peptides for years off and on (I’ve gone through about 10 of the large tubs) and I can definitely tell a difference when I’m not consistently taking them. I’m still quite young so I don’t necessarily have any wrinkles to improve, but I can always tell that my skin is visibly plumper and more hydrated. It also has a “lit from within” glow that I don’t seem get with anything else.I don’t have a lot of joint issues (yet) but I do also notice a nice difference in the pain I have in an old knee injury.I haven’t noticed any difference in my hair growth unfortunately but it seems like I lose fewer hairs each wash. Hard to say whether this is due to the collagen or changes I’ve made in my routine though.Overall, I really enjoy this powder and I hope that it will always be available. It is a better value for money than many other brands while still remaining high quality. I’ve never had an issue dissolving this powder in either cold or hot beverages. Sometimes I add it to a large glass of water to sip on, sometimes to a cup of hot tea or coffee. It does have a very subtle smell and taste so in my opinion the plain water option is not the best, but it’s doable.

I really dislike these powder supplements and only chose this one after …
I received an email from Sports Research asking if this product met my expectations. My answer is.. not even close!! I started taking this about 3 months ago. I was having some skin trouble and after some research found that collagen might help so I went searching for something and came across this product on Amazon. I really dislike these powder supplements and only chose this one after reading a review from someone who mentioned she put it in her morning coffee and I thought “I can do that!”. Worst case scenario would be it wouldn’t help with the skin issue but I would have great hair and nails, no harm no foul. What I completely ignored were all the reviews about the joints. I have had osteoarthritis since I was 16 and have tried every product known to man and nothing ever helped. At 32 my orthopedic surgeon was going to replace both my knees and I not so politely declined. I am 47 now and for almost 2 decades I have been taking 800 – 8000 mgs of ibuprofen daily just to be able to move.Less than 2 weeks after I started taking this once a day in my morning coffee (thank you fellow reviewer!) I realized I hadn’t taken a single ibuprofen in over a week. I hadn’t been able to bend my knees past a 90 degree angle for I couldn’t even tell you how long and now they move and work like normal knees with not even the slightest discomfort. I went from sitting 12 – 16 hours a day to “holy crap I can’t stop moving”. Excess weight is falling off like nothing, my overall health has drastically improved, and I am getting out and doing things I was never capable of before. Not living with the pain and excessive amount of ibuprofen has even changed my overall demeanor and outlook on life.I don’t know what else to say. How do you review a product that literally gives you your life back? All I can do is thank the makers and the reviewer who made me want to try it. THANK YOU!!!!

I am a 57 year old woman who has been comfortable in my own skin. I have never held back enjoying my life. Hey! You only get one time around! I do not taste a difference in my coffee but my coffee does taste richer. I don’t mind it at all.The only reason I will say that I am dissapointed is because I expected a “miracle”. I expected this product to take 10 years off my age in 30 days. So back to real life…I told no one, not even my husband ( who is 15 years younger than myself) that I was adding this to my daily routine. I’ve been using collagen peptides for 7 months, and this product for 3 of those months. Before i get into my review, here’s some backstory so you know where I’m coming from. I’m a 45 year old male, 6ft, 205 lbs. I never drink, smoke, or take any drugs or pharma, and avoid artificial preservatives in my diet. I love to lift weights (6 hours per week, mix of light and heavy), and do 1 to 2 hours of cardio and yoga per week. I don’t go hard on cardio or stretching, just what’s needed to keep my heart and mobility healthy. I also get outside and hike for about an hour a day. I’m fortunate to have a job that involves talking by phone and have close access to a gym and trails, which is what makes all this possible. I limit my sitting time to no more than 5 hours per day. This is because 6 or more hours of sitting per day is shown to damage testosterone and vascular health in men.I started out with two mild problems: recurring inflammation and slow recovery in my right patellar tendon (the big one that goes over the knee), and above-optimal systolic blood pressure (around 135 to 145, while 110 to 120 would be better).I started taking collagen to improve recovery in my knee, and reduce the number of breaks I had to take from lifting. I tried several different ways of mixing it, including mixing with water, juice, and ice cream. This, and the other products I tried, mixed just fine. Ultimately I started mixing it into the oily fish I’ve been every morning for breakfast. It dissolves easily in just an ounce or two of room temperature water. The consistency goes from straight liquid water to a gel, about the consistency of hand sanitizer. This is true of every collagen product I tried.I noticed after about a month of taking collagen that my knee and elbow joints recover faster from heavy lifting sessions. Instead of needing 3 to 5 days for full joint recovery, I only need 2 to 3. I also noticed that the usual slight tendon soreness I had after a yoga session would be gone in a couple hours instead of lasting the rest of the day. As a result I can do more and harder workouts. I had previously gotten my blood pressure down from the upper 140s to upper 130s. Since making collagen part of my daily routine It’s come down another 10 points, into the 125 to 130 range. Not perfect, but healthier. I don’t know if it’s the collagen per se, or just being able to exercise more frequently and intensely. It could also be the added omega-3s from the fish, or effects from cutting out artificial preservatives. Or less stress from staying single, lol.I didn’t expect improvement in my skin, but that also happened. My skincare routine consists of washing with unscented baby shampoo, using unscented Aveeno during the day, and organic coconut oil at night. This has been my dirt-cheap routine for years. A family member I hadn’t seen for 6 months came to visit last week. He told me I look younger than I did the last time I saw him. I’ve always looked somewhat young for my age, but even people I’ve known for a couple years are shocked now when I tell them I’m 45. In the past people would estimate my age at 3 to 7 years younger. Now they’re estimating 10 to 15. This isn’t a benefit I hoped for–recovery and mobility were and still are my objectives–but wow, I’ll take it.Here’s why I prefer this product over the others I’ve tried:Taste–it’s virtually flavorless, which I vastly preferSmell–I can’t smell itGranularity–The granules are about the size of large sand particles. The few times I spilled it cleanup has been easy.Solubility–As I described above, the product dissolves quickly in a few ounces of water with little to no stirring.Price–This product is priced comparably to others, but because it’s easy to work with and never unpleasant there’s virtually no waste.The recommended dosage on the container is 20g per day. I take half that, 10g per day, and still am getting great results beyond wat I expected. I tried it at both 15 and 20 g per day, but didn’t get better results. I of course recommend talking with your healthcare provider before taking any supplements and adjusting the dosage to what’s safest and most effective for you. For cost, convenience, flavor, and effectiveness, this is best collagen product I’ve tried overall.

I’d buy again
It’s a good size. I’ve noticed a change in my hair for the better and my nails seem to be stronger. I feel like the vitamin content has helped with my gut health as well. Doesn’t really have much of a taste but the taste it does have, is good. It’s kind of sweet. Easy to swallow.

No residue, amazing!
No residue, unlike vital proteins which gets stuck to the glass bottom and gets clunky in even a little cold water.This is a Little grainy but once you mix it no residue or taste. Definitely tastes better than Vital P. No hylaronic acid and only 11g protein per serving though.

Best collagen out there
Having taken this collagen for about three years, I briefly wondered if there was something better and tried Thorne collagen. Never again. This collagen mixes well, does not clump, and is virtually unflavored. I have seen benefits to my skin, joints, and hair over the years, and I will continue to purchase this product.
