Wonderful for young kids this cold season.
I got this namely for my 4 year old. She’s in preschool and I know it’s inevitable that she’ll get sick at some point. I’m grateful to be able to have this on hand for when that happens. I particularly like that it’s supposed to last 12 hours, so hopefully it’d help her sleep through the night without making her groggy. Will update if/when we have to use this.

Toddler approved
The orange flavor of this my toddler loved. He usually hates all forms of liquid medicine but he drank this without complaints. Really helped suppress his cough through the night when he went through a cold a few weeks ago. I would for sure purchase this again for the orange flavor alone.

Great for cold season!
With school back in session colds are starting to make their rounds in our house. Fortunately, we were ready and had this on hand! It’s helped our kids so much. Their coughs are the worst in the mornings and at night. So that is when we administer this medicine. It helps suppress their cough. So they can get back to being their happy go lucky selves. We highly recommend!

Sleep at night
Our middle granddaughter has really bad allergies this summer. They have her on medication but it makes her hyper so we don’t like to give it to her before bedtime. Of course then she keeps everyone up with her irritating cough. This stuff has been a god sent. We give her a dose just before bed and she sleeps cough free through the night. No negative effects from this at all.

I got this “Amazon Basic Care Children’s Cough Suppressant DM” to try. This is a Amazon branded “Dextromethorphan Polistirex” for cough suppressant and it cost much cheaper than some of the known brand.In terms of the taste, I tried this medicine myself and I have to say the orange flavor is not bad. This helped my “adult” tickle-in-the-throat cough.
Lately my throat has been giving me fits with that annoying tickle-in-the-throat cough. Even spouse has been commenting on the frequency. Pretty sure it’s something in the air. Anyway, I thought this Children’s Cough DM would help, as it can also be used for adults. I think the only thing different might be the flavoring – it’s Grape. Not one of my favorite flavors, but for using this as a cough suppressant, it’ll do just fine. The liquid comes with a dosing cup depending on the amount of ml. a person requires, mostly by age. This will be fine for me during the day, and it appears to be helping. Thank goodness!

12 hours relief of coughing. This has a grape flavor that is not too bad. Most of these medicines have an after taste but this is not great. This one does not. Very easy to follow directions. Comes with a cup to measure out accurately.It says it is good for day or night relief. My daughter did not get drowsy at all with this medicine. We have used it a few times and it helps to ease her cough and relax her airways.I have no negative. Flavor is good and product works.

I used this when my 4 year old had a cold, and was having trouble sleeping due to coughing. He didn’t have any issue with the taste. It seemed to help some, but not completely alleviate the symptoms like I hoped. But I can’t say any other medicine would have worked better, either, since I’m new to medicines like this for my children.

Just as good as Delsym for children
This is the generic version of children’s Delsym and it works just as well for a fraction of the price. It helps when my kids have bad coughs that keep them from sleeping at night. This is grape flavored and my kids say it tastes similar to Delsym, which is not that good, in their opinion. However, they can get it down, and they know it’s better than coughing all night.

My kids have all had coughs recently and we have been going through cough medicine so fast. We tried this cough medicine and it worked well–the flavor was decent and it worked just as well as the name brand cough medicine, but this one does not cost nearly as much! I would use this again!

Very Reasonable Priced
What I like about this is that this is made with pretty much the same ingredients as the name brand, only costs a fraction of the price. I really appreciate Amazon making a generic version of this to help those of us who are on a budget. I have always been satisfied with Amazon’s generic versions of medicines and this one is no exception.This flavor is well tolerated by my son, who is the only one who has tried it out thus far. He is the pickiest out of all 3 of my kids so I have confidence that if he likes it my other two will. You receive a decent amount in this bottle, although I have to mention that the expiration date it is may of 2022. This will get you through cold and flu season but I do wish it had a later expiration date.I have included photos of the ingredients and I have also included dosage and instruction amounts for your convenience and reference.

Great gape cough med for kiddos
This worked great for our 5 year old on a few occasions. You get five ounces of a grape flavored cough medicine where she fits in the 2.5 mL category. I’d say it’s reasonably priced at about $11, but I’d say there are some other options out there locally that seem a little cheaper so you might want to shop around and see what works best for your family. But overall no complaints with this product!

Quick and effective
My son had a consistent cough with no other symptoms. Just coughing. I tried natural brands and honey and none were working because he didn’t like the flavor and they weren’t effective. Grape flavor smells like grape. Slightly thicker than average liquid medicine, but good for coating throat. My 6yr old prefers this to the other brands. I found it actually suppresses his cough. He was able to go to school without coughing and sleep peacefully. Didn’t upset his stomach and even prefers this flavor to others. Works magic for consistent coughing.

As good as name brand for less money
We are a family of 8 and usually use store brand medications over name brand in an attempt to save a little money.My son is a very generous person, and his most recent gift to all us was the cold that’s making it’s way around his school. Beh. Just at that time, my daughter had to have a tooth extracted and was unable to swallow pills. This arrived at exactly the right time for us. It has the same active ingredients and works every bit as well.My daughter did feel this was just as sweet as the name brand. I know that is necessary to cover the medicine flavor but I do wish they could come up with an option that was less sugary and still tasted good.

Flavor is a little off.
I grew up taking a different grape flavored liquid medicine to suppress coughs and I remember it helping some. That’s kind of what I expected this to taste like but this does not! It’s not a sweet grape and has a slightly off putting aftertaste. That being said, my kids know no difference and they like it just fine. It’s for ages 4 and up, so I had to get something else for my 2 year old who is also sick. My boys have a slight cough going on. It’s hard to tell if this is helping as they still cough even after taking this and it’s not like they were coughing constantly, so it’s hard to know how much to contribute to this. But they will take it, so that’s a plus, and I can still give them acetaminophen.

Worked great for non-COVID cough & cold with our kiddo
Our kiddo came down with the cough-version of the creeping crud after a bit of post-nasal drip (not C-19 – we tested) and this medicine went down without much complaint – there is a bit of aftertaste, but a water chaser helps. It helped suppress coughing that was starting to wake him up while the bug ran its course. This works well – we have used name brands in the past, and this one was just as good. We are very happy that we gave it a go!

My Grandson came home from school with a slight cough and sniffles. The cough started deepening as the night wore on and he was given this before bed. He slept pretty soundly and his cough was no worse by morning. He has bad allergies and even a slight cold can turn his coughs into very croup sounding. And now with COVID, we knew we could not send him back to school Monday if his cough got that bad. We continued to give him doses of this, twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday. As the outside of the box says, this Amazon Basic Care Children’s Cough DM liquid is comparable to Children’s Delsym. The active ingredient is the same, so you would expect it to work the same. Most combination cough medicines contain Dextromethorphan as a cough suppressant, but this medicine works even better if your child has a particularly bad cough. This is the best medicine I have found for children to use without a prescription. It also lasts up to 12 hours, so it can help them get a good night’s sleep, which is important when trying to recover from a cold.

Good Price, Works As Well As Name Brand
My daughter tends to get one of those post-nasal drip coughs, and I often give her a suppressant on top of whatever allergy meds seem to be working at that time. I’ve tried other Amazon Basic meds before, and like them, this is no disappointment. It’s just as good as the name brand at a much better price.We’ve used Delsym before and this is on par with that (from what I’ve seen so far…fortunately, we haven’t needed much cough medicine lately). Flavor is okay

Great alcohol free cough suppressant!
This long acting dextromethorphan is the best cough suppressant available. This is the extended release version, so it lasts 12 hours (as long as you make sure to shake the bottle before you pour it out). If you don’t shake first, you’ll only get the short acting part (the long acting part is encapsulated and settles down to the bottom). This does NOT have an expectorant in it (I.e. guaifenesin) but honestly, drinking plenty of fluids works just as well for mucus as guaifenesin. I’m a pharmacist, and long acting dextromethorphan is the cough medicine I keep in the house and the one I recommend to patients. This one is grape flavored which the kids like (and so do I!).

Children’s cough syrup
This comes in a sealed plastic bottle with a child resistant cap plus a measuring cup.This is for children ages 4 and up.I used it for myself as I have an annoying tickle in my throat. It is a clear purple liquid. I took 10 mL as I am over 12 years. It has a sweet grape flavor at first and helps right away but has an aftertaste within seconds. It’s hard to describe but it’s like when I have a sinus infection and drainage. Not appetizing at all but it’s not strong or bitter or anything.This lasts about 4 hours although dosing is for every 12 hours.My child will actually take this medication which is more than I can say about other cough meds we’ve tried that they refused to even take.I would recommend this even through the after taste because it works and is initially palatable.

Be careful!
Be careful with this! We’ve used the name brand with no problem but BOTH kids (age 7 and 9) felt super dizzy on this and one even passed out after using the bathroom in the middle of the night on this!!! Not sure how the ingredients differ but definitely never buying again!

Update: Smells like gasoline after a couple weeks. Do not give this medicine to your children!!!Original review: Disappointed at this cough medicine. Does not compare to Delsym. Delsym works almost immediately and keeps little one coughs at bay but this product does not. You are better off with Maty’s or Delsym cough syrup as this item does nothing to calm coughs.
