    Great Chair

I was hesitant ordering a chair online but, this has worked perfectly. I double checked the length of the seat (long legs) and it’s perfect. Very comfortable chair so far!

    Easy assembly, good quality.

I found this to be one of the least-expensive high-back office chairs on Amazon. I had some trepidation due to the AmazonBasics brand, from which I’ve bought a few small things (like cables) that have not lasted very long at all. I’ve had the chair for a few days now, and am impressed with the quality. To start off with the shipping was very quick, and the packaging was secure. Assembling the chair was beyond easy. So easy, in fact, I want to point out a few things that make it a model of simplicity. First the small parts (screws, covers, wrench, etc) are all individually packaged with a slip of paper telling you which thing is which. In other words, you aren’t left to wonder if you are holding screw ‘c’ or bolt ‘f’. They even packaged extra parts, which were labelled ‘extra’ so you don’t have to wonder if you just didn’t see where they go. I love extra parts because you never know when a dog or toddler is going to run by and eat something you need, and give you a six-ish hour delay. The instructions were very clear and thought out well enough to set you up for future steps so you don’t have to back track. I also love that the whole thing is assembled with only one type of bolt which uses one type of wrench, which was included. I’m pretty handy, so I don’t really care is something is easy to assemble or not, but this was just so well designed I wanted to comment on it.The chair itself is very sturdy and attractive. The framing is lightweight, but heavy duty. The swiveling, tilting, raising/lowering, and rolling all work very well. The leather is nice looking, and the chair seems to have a slight lumbar curve to it. I have a bad back, so I like a bit of lumbar support. This chair strikes a good balance between too much vs too little, which is good because it’s not adjustable. The arms could be padded a little better, and there are a few very small threads hanging from the ends of stitches. Neither of these is enough to take off a star though. If I notice any significant change in the future I’ll edit my review accordingly, but as it is now I rate it about 4.6 stars, which I’m happy to round up to five.EDIT: Six months so far and it is still holding up beautifully.EDIT: like many others I’ve noticed the fabric (some sort of fake leather) does not hold up. I got a few years of use, and it was cheaper than many competitors (that may not have held up any better). Based on getting several years of use I can still recommend this product as long as you know you aren’t getting a long term product. Be aware however that other reviewers have noted the fabric falling apart after less than a year, which I would consider unacceptable.

    Very good for the cost.

It worked great for the most part. It is comfortable. The screw covers come off frequently. The lift mechanism has failed and I’m looking for a replacement lift right now.

The point I would like to make is that most high back chairs are …

Since I just received the chair my review will have to be my first impressions. The chair assembly was very simple with all hardware and screws included. Nothing was damaged and packaged very well. Following the directions was straight forward leaving no questions. It may have taken 20 minutes unboxing, unwrapping, and assembly. After reading many reviews I knew what I was buying. The point I would like to make is that most high back chairs are not really made for up close desk work such as typing or writing or computer keyboard work. Although they may suffice an ergonomic body position with support in a more upright position requires more of a shorter backed, mid-back support for long hours in a straight up position in my opinion. I personally feel that the higher back chairs are more suited for leaned back support such as talking on the phone or mellowed out with feet on desk. That’s more my style and I find this chair very comfortable both in seat cushion comfort and back cushion support. At only 5′ 7″ it also offers me ideal head support with room to spare. If and when I use this chair for close up straight back work I tested the push in lock with the lever and tightening the front tension adjustment to max tightness which makes a fairly solid support in that position. As far as longevity and how the chair holds up over time will be something to find out in the future. I am not ruff on my chairs so I’m optimistic looking at it’s construction and hope it will last for a while. Some of the reviews talking about the cracking and peeling of the bonded leather on the arm rests is not a great thing to read. Bonded leather makes it’s appearance in a lot of furniture on the lower price scale. For a sofa it might mean $250 instead of $2500 for true leather. So price is key to choosing a better quality or living with a less durable material at a huge savings. If you research taking care of bonded leather it pretty much is in line with taking care of top leather. I feel that it is even more important right from the start to apply a leather conditioner. This penetrates and keeps those salty skin oils from drying it out and keeping it from deteriorating. A good conditioner has and replaces a lot of the supplements from the original tanning/preserving process. Anyway for me having dealt with bonded leather before I used my Lexol conditioner within minutes after assembly. On my job we get 10 new chairs every 6 months or so most costing from $800 to $1800 each. They are used around the clock 24-7 by 40 employees and abused heavily. I don’t think this chair would take that kind of abuse very long either but having sat in lots of office style chairs of all kinds through the years this one from an initial comfort assessment has to rate with the top tier at least initially by my first impression. I’m impressed for the price point verses comfort and if the chair lasts as long as I hope for personal use I think it is the bargain of the century. We’ll see.Edit: After owning this chair for 4 years and sitting in it every day I am totally thrilled by the way it has held up. The photo shows a little bit of relaxed padding on the seat back but the bonded material has held up beautifully. Still pleased with purchase!

Comfortable. I recommend swapping the wheels for rubber casters. After 2 years of light use the fabric on the armrests is cracking.

A good deal – especially on Prime Day

This is a pretty solid chair. Assembly was easy. So far it’s feeling good. It’s a little “hot” on the back – that is, the synthetic material is a bit “sticky” on the skin. But for the price, it’s a good deal.

Good For Regular Use, But Maybe Not All Day

I’ve had this chair now for about two months, it’s gotten regular use and I feel that I’m qualified to review it. I needed to replace my 10+ year old chair that was falling apart and desired a high back chair for the comfort. I really wanted to save some money on the purchase, so this AmazonBasics unit caught my eye for the price. I figured it was worth a shot, I could always sell it if things didn’t work out.Assembly was easy, I didn’t really have any issues to speak of. The instructions were reasonably clear, diagrams easy to follow and everything fit with minimal fuss. Construction of the unit was impressive for the price, I don’t really see the chair failing over the course of many years of use. The controls work as expected, allowing fair basic modification to the fit. It doesn’t have all the adjustments that high end ergonomic chairs feature, but it works well enough to get it comfortable to sit in.Now, for the most important aspect of the chair…comfort! To be honest, it’s only OK. It’s not bad by any means and extended use is really just fine, but I’m not exactly writing letters home about how comfortable the chair is. I find the chair marginally fatiguing after several hours of use, but it’s gotten better as I’ve broken the chair’s padding in. Sometimes I’ve noticed clear signs of ergonomic issues in my legs, like them falling asleep, and I know I need to get up and move around. Again, I wouldn’t say the fit is terrible…just not an experience that could allow you to sit all day without a single break. My previous chair was more comfortable, but I’d also admit that I paid over twice the amount for it.Overall, I wouldn’t not recommend this chair. There are better quality chairs out there, but they will also carry high end price tags along with them. For the price, I’m happy…and to me, it’s a good thing to be reminded that you need to get up every once in awhile. I offer up 4 stars…big value for the price, decent comfort and a good quality product.

    Beautiful and comfy!

Everybody compliments me at the office (I have the white version) – it’s beautiful and very comfy and I got a great deal during prime days. I cannot comment on the setup because my colleague kindly set it up for me, it didn’t take him long but he’s an expert so..

  13. Pratik –

Below par product from an above par brand.

Given that, this chair is from AmazonBasics, I had high expectations from this product.Let me start by commenting the way it was packed:It came in a huge cardboard box, with all the parts loose inside, except the seat and the back support itself; which were snugly packed in the box. Everything else, even though covered with some sort of wrapper, was loose in the box. While assembling the chair, I noticed several dents and scratches on the body of the arm-rest – and my assumption is that, that is because of the loose packing.Anyways, that’s aesthetics. As much as I would like a newly brought product in pristine condition, the fact is that with shipping involved, sometimes I cannot. There was a big booklet on instructions on how to assemble it. There were diagrams and associated instructions. It was an easy start until I reached to the point of assembling the arm-rests. Instructions can be greatly improved in that area. Although there are clear marking on which arm-rest is left and which is right, it is confusing outright the orientation of each – which side is front or back. Tip for the new owners: The two vertical holes (perpendicular to the arm rest cushion) are meant to attach the back support of the chair; so that goes back.So once you figure that out, you start attaching the arm-rests on the seat – but beware!! Tip for new owners: Do not tighten it all the way. Just loosely attach the screws so that the armrests are just hanging with the seat. Why? Because, the back support of the chair will need some space between the arm-rests to slide in.Also, regarding the screws – Be very careful in tightening them. If you feel it is not screwed properly, remove it and try again. I forced a screw rendering the threads of that bracket useless. Luckily it’s on seat so should be ok for now.Once you have all screws lightly on, make sure that the seat and the back supports are snapping in their arm-rests sockets. Only and only then, proceed further tightening all screws.About the chair itself – It is below average quality. The seat doesn’t have much cushion. When you sit, you can feel the hard surface below the cushion. I’m an average person with 73 kg (160 pounds) weight. Moreover, the seat portion seems to be smaller; 1/3rd of my thigh upto knee remains cantilevered. Again, I’m an average person with 5″ 10′ height. The material seems ok. I don’t think it will last long though. It’s easy to put a scratch on it – so keep keys and pins away. This might not be an issue for everyone. The chair comes with its swing knob tightened all the way in. So to make in swing back, you need to move it clockwise (while looking (imagining) at it from top – through the seat!). And it was super jammed. I had to use both of my hands and they were sore at the end. Even at the extreme position, the chair is not very easy to swing. The core is not enough to push it back easily – you’ve to really push it with your feet. I hope, I get used to it because I do want to occasionally lean back.So overall, I would say it’s not a great chair for $110 (that’s what I bought for – I know prices fluctuate). I don’t see myself spending more than 3 hours a day on this chair.

Sitting on this while reviewing! So I know how it works and what it takes to put it together.

Quick to install, heavy, well constructed and fairly comfortable.BOX: Huge box and heavy. Your garbage man will want a tip to take this away.Weight: Heavy, almost 70 lbs in the box.Butt Surface: I am 5’10” tall and 210 lbs. and fit okay. If you are over 250 lbs, this is probably not ideal for you. If you are anything less than me, and I am what they consider a “husky” guy, then you will be fine.Backrest: Maybe my only complaint is that the backrest requires a bit of actual leaning. It does not go back all the way without some real resistance. You sort of need to push yourself back, even nearly a year later, the springs are taught and it remains upright and strong. If you are the kind of person who likes an easily leaned back couch for a chair, this is probably not for you. The overall lean angle is about 40 degrees. It does not go further, probably for safety reasons. I have had chairs that went closer to 60-70 degrees in the past.Time to Construct: It only took me 20 minutes, and I am no carpenter, to put this chair together. Power screwdriver and literally 10 minutes this thing was done. I had reversed the arms by accident, and you will see why, so that is what took the additional time.Finish: The side cover pieces continually pop off so I decided to trash them. They are plastic circular covers designed to cover the screws and unless you super glue them on, forget it. Granted, I should have done that, but I was just mad they kept falling off. I kept two on, two went into the dumpster.Comfort: Surprisingly comfortable, well made and many compliments on the leather surface. I use this chair 6-8 hours daily, 5x week, even weekends, and I have zero complaints on comfort. Considering I had neck surgery to replace a disc, that is a compliment to ANY chair. Adjustments are easy to reach, locking and unlocking vertical is easy and the back provides enough resistance so you do not topple over.Tilting: I am unsure why some reviewers say this chair tilts. I have had no such issues. If you have a tilting chair, return it, do not use it. If it does not sit level or what you feel it level, over time it can actually throw your balance off while seated. Again, ZERO TILTING on my chair. For those complaining about the box being damaged, and it is a very heavy box so I would have just sent it back and never opened it – probably got damaged – thus the tilting. Enough on tilting.Casters: Moves okay over carpet. I would recommend a 36″ plastic floor saver or carpet saver as it does not move super easy. I did that and $29 later, I can move around without issue.Noise: I hate noisy leather chairs that crinkle or sound like someone “farkled” every second. This chair is taught, well made, nicely stitched and makes virtually no needless sounds. For the dough, a 10 out of 10.

Great, comfortable chair for my classroom. I received compliments that it looked more expensive than it cost. It’s high back so I can lean my head back. It was easy to put together as well. Love it!

    4 year life

I have purchased this chair twice. First time around 2016. It was flawless and very comfortable. Never had ant issues. 2018 I moved and sold it, for like 20 bucks. Bought another one in 6/2020. It was mostly good. I started having problems because it would sink for no reason in less than a year. I tried to return it but no dice, Then that issue went away. Last month, July, All the super thin leather started peeling off So I started taping the peels trying to save it. Didn’t help much. Then, it started sinking again, constantly. Basically, I got four years use out of it. Will be looking for another brand this time. Probably not leather.

    Caused back pain

I really liked the way this chair felt but after a few weeks I started having back pain, which is not common for me. I noticed that on the days when I went into the office my back did not hurt at night. Since buying this chair my back has been giving me issues with pain. I had a regular office chair before this and had no issues it was just wore out. I will be looking for a different one.

Comfortable chair for a good price

I used the cheaper IKEA chair for the last 10 years and OH MY GOSH! It’s nice to finally have more comfort especially as I am more working in my office now. The tilt is not as much as I thought it would be. But it doesn’t bother me much as I don’t use it really.

Key to quick assembly and repair, be aware of less expensive inferior look alike chair

I have a lot of experience with these chairs.I have been tracking the price of these chairs for the past year. They had been $ 159 up till a few days ago when Amazon notified me of the price decrease, $ 120 (I guess because the chair was on my wish list). I jumped on it, at $ 120 dollars they are a great value. Package arrived in two days, package a little beat up but contents were perfect.Assembly :Assemble the wheeled base per instructions and attach bottom cushion .The key to easily and quick assembly is to attach the arms to the base cushion very, very loosely. If the arms are tightened down to the base you can not successfully line up the back cushion to the arm holes. Then loosely attach the top bolts through arms to the chair back then bottom bolts. I use an electric drill with a hex adapter (not the little enclosed Allen wrench ) and was able to put the chair together in less than 15 minutes, including unpacking. Note I am 71 years old with some physical disabilities.Issues with this chair. We first purchased similar chairs from Amazon about 12 years ago for around $ 100. We used these as our kitchen chairs, they are comfortable and sturdy even after long hours of sitting and held up well but after 8 or 9 years the bonded/man made leather covering started to flake and peel as this type of “leather” tends to do with heavy use. (You should not expect a lifetime of heavy use from an inexpensive office chair). I was very pleased with chairs, comfortable for my big frame , So ordered replacement chairs from Amazon which were just slightly different in the style of back cushion (would not notice difference unless pointed out). Unlike the old chairs, within two years the “backs” started breaking. I am 6 feet plus at 225 and my sons are a little bigger. As it turned out the sockets/nuts (inside the cushion base) that the arms bolts were attached to had pulled through the plywood inside the base cushion. (It seems the plywood base of the slightly restyled chairs is not nearly as strong). I repaired chairs by bolting a metal bar ( approx. 1/8 x 4 x 1 inch) to the underside of the plywood base inside the cushion. This requires taking the arms off the chair and opening up the side seams (many staples). Repaired chairs are holding up well. If you are not a big person (my wife, 130 pounds & 5 ft. 8 in.) has not broken her new style chair after 3 years. Time will tell if this newest chair holds up. P.S. Do not confuse this chair with the slightly less expensive (About $100) look alike office chair. The covering of the less expensive chair is very, very thin and will not hold up.

    Office chair

We bought this chair for my wife to use at work. It not really a 8-10 hr type of chair due to padding restrictions, but with 3rd party pads added on to it. It becomes very comfortable for her long days. It’s still too new to determine stability of the padding or material, but I will update if things go south. The assembly needs to be done by the book, because it has a back seat that goes on better when you follow the instructions.

    Short seat *updated*

Pros: chair is very comfortable. Well padded. Not hard to put together. Small design is great for postureCons: I don’t know if I put it together wrong but kinda tilts forward a bit. The seating part is not long at all. I am 5’9″ woman and the chair stops just above mid thogh. Kinda puts me in the mindset of sitting at a stool or like on a bench. Doesn’t lean back. I paid $75 on prime day , so it’s not a HUGE loss but now I know to look at seat depth in the future.UPDATE:I PUT THE SEAT ON BACKWARDS. IF IT LEANS FORWARD AND TILTS DOWN THEN THE SEAT IS ON BACKWARDS. WHEN DONE CORRECTLY THIS IS A VERY COMFORTABLE CHAIR

    Finally, I found you

The media could not be loaded.

I suffer from L4 L5 bulge and sciatica pain, my right leg goes numb after sitting for 20 minutes. Finding a right chair never happened to me. To be honest this is the 8 th chair I’m buying in the last 3 years because none of them gave me the comfort to sit longer ( my work involves sitting for long period of time).I was very hesitant about buying this chair because I am never a fan of leather chair. ( I’m low maintenance gal). I always ended up buying mesh chairs ( $250 chair which was soon uncomfortable). The assembly took almost 35 minutes for me and the moment I sat on this I felt a connection ( LOL), which I never felt with any other chairs.Comfort for legs-I have no idea whats with this chair, the positioning is not making my leg numb so fast, I think it is the leather cushioning which otherwisewill not be there with mesh chairs.Comfort for back-For all other chairs I have felt I need to lean back to rest my upper back ( which prevents from getting a comfortable position for my hand to work on PC) , but this one supports my back even without leaning too much back.Comfort for hands- supports my elbow ( that means less pressure on my wrists- saved me from carpal tunnel)Neck support- I thought I had to compromise on neck support because I bought this one which doesn’t have a headrest, but I was wrong. I Don’t need to keep my head supported all the time but when I need to relax I can lean back ( this serves my purpose)”I AM SO GRATEFUL TO WHOMEVER WHO DESIGNED THIS CHAIR”This is not advertised as an ergonomic chair but this is so great ( I’m literally crying). For years I couldn’t find the right one and I guess the search for the perfect chair for me came to an end. I hope the leather lasts.

Solid, Sturdy, & Easy To Assemble… But Lacking In The Cushion Dept.

I bought two of these chairs 3.5 months ago and I waited to review them to make sure I was giving a fair review.Pros:* Overall, very comfortable. The lower back especially offers great support.* Affordable, for this type of chair. Definitely less than a lot of other high back chairs.* Very attractive. I love the gold and brown together. These chairs look very sharp in our home office.* Sturdy. My husband is tall (6’1) and 200 pounds. I am 5’7 and overweight; both chairs have held up well to frequent use.* Putting these chairs together was an absolute breeze. Both of them took less than 20 minutes to assemble.* I like that the flexibility is adjustable. I prefer a chair that doesn’t tip back; my husband likes the opposite. These can do both.Cons:* I wish this chair had neck support. I knew it didn’t when I bought it, but find myself missing that.* The seat of the chair is under padded. If you’re sitting on it for long periods of time, I’d recommend adding a cushion.* The corks that cover the screws pop out easily and often. My cats think they are play toys.* While we’re on the topic of cats, lock yours out of the room if possible because this fabric seems to entice them.Overall, I have less complaints than compliments when it comes to this chair. My biggest complaint is the lack of padding in the butt area. We bought these to use for gaming, and I find myself having to shift around often while sitting to remain comfortable. For the money I paid, they’re a HUGE upgrade from what we used to have, so I’m pleased with my purchase… but I do think adding a cushion will allow me to enjoy my chair even more.

    Very disappointing chair and experience.

I bought this office chair as a Prime Day deal for my husband for his work from home office. We received it on July 18th, put it together a couple of days later and he began to use it. Keep in mind he only works from home 2 days a week and has been using it for less than two months. One of the “arms” or “legs” or whatever you call it that holds the caster wheel broke yesterday – September 9th. Less than 2 months of use only two days a week. My husband is also not a huge guy by any means. We’re lucky he didn’t get hurt in the process.I figured no big deal, I’d reach out to Amazon and they could likely send a part to fix it or send a replacement or maybe a refund. At least a partial refund.Customer service was not great. First of all, I cold hardly understand the person I talked to first. I don’t generally have that experience with Amazon. Second, they wanted me to take it apart, box it up and drop it off or have it picked up for a return or replacement. I did not keep the large box it came in. They told me to go buy a box. 🙄What on earth are they going to do with a broken chair? I’d have no problem if they had an Amazon driver pick it up as is on his next delivery (I mean we get a few deliveries a week). But I shouldn’t have to go buy a box, take it apart and package it up “because it is outside the 30 day return window”. I certainly hope they don’t typically break within 30Days! But you’re going to have to spend a lot of time going around with customer service if it doesn’t and then breaks within a year. (Item shows replacement for a year).Eventually, a manager agreed to just give us a refund as a credit to our Amazon account. So in the end it was resolved but only after aggravation that should not have been an issue.

Best bet for 200+ pound, light home use

I just ordered this chair for the second time. I purchased on identical to it a couple years ago.it wore out. but in 2 years, and i sit 16 to 18 hours per day, every day, no day’s off. so i spend an enormous amount of time in it. and I’m 6′ 210 so i am not smallWhen i catch up on bills i’m going to buy a true executive chair, but they’re about $1200 for a good one.You will never beat the quality for the price of this. walmart carries one that looks an awful lot like this but it’s about $175 i believe. The reason I’m buying a second one is until my money is right I need to keep fresh chairs going. this was a fantastic purchase before, and i can’t see any reason going elsewhere to get another one. especially considering a chair with a max weight above my real weight, usually you’re over $200.I do remember, this is easy to put together, but MAKE SURE you put the bottom in correct direction. it is not only possible, it’s easy to accidentally do it backwards and when you go to sit you won’t fit right. I have to laugh because I did this the first time. and I’m mechanically inclined. i just goofed.can’t give it 5 stars only because it’s a price point chair. this is not intended to be a full use chair. but for the home, and light use, you won’t beat the price/qualityUPDATE: i got the delivery today. Putting it together took about 10 minutes. there are only two things to remember. 1. put the arm bolts in VERY loose initially.then, when adding the back, lay it down, and only put the bottom bolts in. then flip it back and put the top bolts in. once you get those in, go ahead and tighten them up, and work your way around to tighten all the others.By leaving the first bolts loose it makes it MUCH easier to put the back in. it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes for one person.hint, to put the right and left arm rests in, lay it on it’s side so it’s easy to line up. you definitely do not need 2 people

All-around good chair, suitable for me at 6’6″, comfortable and no issues

Pros:The assembly is straightforward and doesn’t require much strength; I would expect my mother to have no issue putting this chair together. If you’re elderly or disabled, a relative or helper should have an easy and quick time of putting it together, and there is very little chance of making a mistake during assembly.Sturdy at and slightly above the recommended weight limit. I peaked around 256 or 258lbs while using this chair, and it didn’t show any signs of complaint then, and it hasn’t shown signs of wear since.Really comfortable. I’m an eight-hours-a-day user, almost without exception, and I have no complaints. The leather holds up very well. I don’t expect this to be true forever, but after approximately 1800 hours of use, there is no tear or warning sign.It leans back super stably. That’s the most important aspect for me.It’s tall enough to support my 6’6″ frame. My back rests comfortably, so the odds are yours will fit, too. For the scary few who tower over me, and so you can search it easily, here’s a height guide:6’3″ 6’4″ 6’5″ – The chair is good for your heights6’7″ – You should also be well served, unless your height is mostly in your torso.6’8″ – You’re at the cusp. I think you will be comfortable in this chair, and alternatives that are built for our (mostly your) height cost so much more. I’d give it a try. I wish you luck.6’9″ 6’10” 6’11” – This is written for 6’9. For 6’10, 6’11, scale the significance of the caution. I think this chair will prove uncomfortable for you or encourage bad posture. I’d encourage you to look elsewhere.Cons:This is well covered in other reviews: the caps that cover up the screws on the side of the arms are poorly designed. One falls off every day or two. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s optional. You can toss the caps in the trash. The screws are not exposed. They sit deep within the plastic of the arm. Personally, I just push the covers back on when I notice they fell. The armrests could be better for me, I think. I’m not sure exactly what my complaint is. I think they are a little too narrow for my liking, but I’m 6’6″ with broad shoulders and long arms and unusual joints. The spacing seems fine for a typical user.Notes:I only sit leaning the chair back or sitting up straight at the edge of my seat. Some aspects of this review may not translate perfectly to locked-in-place, sitting back, upright usage.

Chair Seems Less Comfortable Than BestOffice Ergonomic PU Leather High Back Executive Office Chair

I originally ordered a BestOffice Ergonomic PU Leather High Back Executive Office Chair for my son who was going off to college. That chair arrived with a defected right arm which we could not bolt on. The Supplier (Cavalier Store – Amazon Marketplace) sent out a replacement part with no tracking information.Getting close to his departure, I ordered this AmazonBasics “High-Back” Executive Chair to ensure he had it to take with him. Amazing – the replacement part and this second chair arrived within one-hour of each other. So we assembled both chairs. My 5’10” son chose the BestOffice Chair immediately. This is NOT an evaluation on how long the bonded leather and construction of one compares to the PU leather of the other. Nor the durability of components on the respective chairs.Sure seems a good bet they come out of the same factory in China. One clear difference is the legs on the Basics chair (holding the castors) is plastic; looks like metal though! The BestOffice legs are metal.Three things about choosing the BestOffice chair:1. The feel of the seat and seat back itself is softer.2. The seat-back also seems to curve around your torso a bit; you fit into it.3. The seat-back is much higher; great to support someone taller without your head flopping back if you lean back into it.So, look at the measurements closely and don’t be fooled by the item description; to get something as tall as the BestOffice you have to move up to the AmazonBasics Big & Tall Executive Chair. My 5′ 3″ daughter got the AmazonBasics chair assigned to her. We wanted to keep it to see how each chair performs over time. Since we have six kids wheeling around their computer desks at home and now at college, I am sure we’ll be adding more and / or replacing them every so often.BTW: For those who let their faux leather chairs wear out / develop holes – Hint, just as it works on our two old cracked body (Saturn) cars, multiple colored duct tape, including Gorilla Tape is actually legal to use on just about anything to keep cracks and tears holding together.

Decent price for a general use

Putting this chair together was easy, and the instructions were straightforward—just read them or look at the picture. A person can put it together by themselves with no extra help necessary. The chair is comfortable, if a little stiff at the beginning, but that was to be expected. Having sat on this chair roughly 4-5 hours a day for over a month, it has not had any problems, so I am happy about that. It’s not recommended for taller people, I’m 5’4 and the max height for the chair is good for me. However, my friend is 6 feet tall and complains about it when using it.Edit: I have had this chair for over 7 years, and it still has been holding up great. Do make sure to tighten the screws over time as they will come loose and lead to creaking. One minor problem is one of the caps to cover the bolt for the armrest keeps popping out when I lean on that particular side. I had to stuff paper in and around the opening to keep it from popping off.Our family has long hair, and over time, the wheels pick up on them, get tangled, and eventually stop rolling. I didn’t maintain the wheels, so it got very bad. It got so bad, that the wheel caps would eventually pop off with minimum weight even after hammering them back in. Eventually, I just bought replacement wheels and tossed the old one away. I’ve tried a bi-monthly maintenance schedule of making sure to clean out the wheels. This did help, but over time it became very tiring on a long list of chores and dealing with long human hair and furry ones too. I’ve replaced the wheels with rollerblade wheels as recommended and it has been a great decision so far without worrying about hair.Another issue, I’ve found is that the color of the faux leather is now fading and it’s more obvious by the end of the 6th year of using it. Especially on the armrest and on the seat, it may be time to start thinking of a new replacement. Overall, when I bought it ($100, without shipping cost) I thought it was decent, especially having lasted me over 7 years.

    Average Office Chair

This is a basic office chair. There are dozens of options of similar chairs at this price point–Amazon’s version isn’t any better, or any worse, than others I’ve tried from big box stores. The padding is comfortable if a bit stiff. It *is* comfortable after a fashion, but that’s subjective. I’d rather have a chair that’s a tab bit too stiff at unpackaging hoping that it’ll help save cushioning in the future if that makes sense. The worst part about these inexpensive chairs is that the cushioning usually flatten out long before the other parts of the chair give way.I don’t have much faith in the faux-leather bonded to whatever material is beneath it. I am quite certain that it’ll begin to peel after months of use. But, since I cannot yet say for certain, I’ll give Amazon the benefit of the doubt for the minute. It simply feels like very cheap pleather–like, if there was a spectrum of best of worst pleather, Amazon’s version would be towards the bottom.Assembly was not painful at all. If you’ve put together those wooden and plastic toys as a child, then this chair will be no problem. It comes in three major parts–the base where the wheels are, the hydraulic lift thingie, and then the seat bottom/back/arms. Snap the wheels into base. Screw in metal thingie that goes underneath seat then plop that down onto the base. As for the seat & back & arms–just align holes and use the provided screws & allen wrench. That’s it. The hardest part was holding different parts together while I tried to align openings for the screws. Do yourself a solid and have a helper ready. It’ll save you time. I started during halftime of Monday Night Football and was seated at my desk by the start of the third quarter. But these are all first impressions so take them for what they’re worth. I’ve had the chair a day or so. Only time will tell if this chair is durable which is actually the type of change-over-time review that is perhaps most useful to folks looking for an office chair. In that spirit, I’ll do my best to update this review periodically over the life of the chair to give a more accurate picture of this particular chair’s value.

Losing faith in Amazon Basics – smaller chair, higher price

About 3-1/2 years back we bought one of these high-back Amazon Basics chairs for the then, normal price of $89.00. The chair has served us extremely well all that time. As a programmer I spend about 5 to 8 hours in the chair pretty much **every** day.Recently the gas-lift has been losing pressure and several times a day I had to raise it up. Rather than get a new gas-lift I decided to spring for a new chair. I had the seat re-padded about a year back so figured a new chair would be better instead of paying out for a new gas-lift.I ordered one two days back and very happily it arrived the next day. Way to go Amazon. I didn’t need the instructions and fifteen minutes later it was ready to use. I wheeled out the old chair and in with the new and plopped my 5′-11″, 145-lb frame into it.Surprise number one, the padded-roll under my thighs prevented my feet from being flat on the floor unless I had the lift in the lowest position. And then, I felt like I was at the kid’s table with my elbows below the desk-top. I have since found that I am not alone with that issue as quite a few reviewers have mentioned it. Stupidly I did not bother to read any reviews **before the purchase,** as I was buying an Amazon Basics identical chair — I thought.OK, so that should not be too much of a problem as I figured I could put some spacers in the back (picture #4) to lift it a little. But then, I tilted back and my head had zero support on the “high”-back. Quickly rolling the old chair back in, it became obvious that Amazon Basics seemed more interested in the money than value.Picture #1 Shows the chairs side by side and the new one on the right is smaller all over. The “high”-back is 24″ compared to 26″ on the old one so no head support when you lay back your head. The seat width is 20-1/4″ wide on the new one and the old one is 21-3/4″ wide, which for me is not an issue, so will not whine too much about that.Pictures #2 and #3 show the issue with the front roll on the seat. They are now using an almost flat plywood base whereas the old one had a molded base and rolled down lip at the front so that the padding rolls around very comfortably. Now I am not sure I want to keep the chair as the lowered back is irritating as I often drop my head back to ponder some deeper moments of programming code.I have tested the spacer idea with some nylon spacers I have on hand and the 3/4″ ones seem to be about right. I will get a friend to machine two up in 1″ diameter aluminum ones. The screws are US-standard 1/4″-20 threads so getting longer bolts will not be an issue — IF I keep the thing. What a disappointment, we have many Amazon Basics items as I tend to order them rather than waste time searching for bargains. But, smaller chair and higher price, it seems like buying Amazon Basics is no longer a guarantee of value for money. Sad to see Amazon.

    4 year lifespan

I got this chair on sale for a good price and worked great but after about 3 years the chair started to flake and now the cushions are tearing. Just know what youre getting out of it before you buy

    Beautiful Chair-Not So Much Support

Updated review: This chair is for relaxing or reading with your feet up. This chair should not be used as a task or computer chair. (I should have listened to other reviewers). The chair does not have a waterfall style seat which could prevent proper circulation to your legs. I noticed my legs feeling numb or my toes feeling weird every morning when I sat in my chair. The back is slanted in a way that would be impossible to type and sit back at the same time. You will end up hunched over. I’ve developed back pain, something I have never suffered from. My old chair never had this weird effect on me because it was an office task chair. I only replaced it because it was losing comfort but I made matters worse. I’ve ordered a new chair that’s more upright and I pray I made a better decision, this chair is comfy and nice to look at but it is not the chair to work at your home office for 8+ hours. DON’T do it if you sit at your desk typing all day, it will not work out.Initial Review:I knew this chair did not have lumbar support before purchasing, but it had a lot of features I wanted, color, size, tilt and price. I bought a more expensive chair on Amazon that had lumbar support and it just didn’t work. It was not pleasant to look at and I couldn’t keep it if I wasn’t happy with it. Anyway, I’ve had this chair for 2 weeks and my back is uncomfortable. I tend to sit up and slouch over naturally so when I try to sit back in this chair, it’s sort of reclined a bit and my lower back is a little “empty.” So today I received a little lumbar pillow and I sit up pretty straight but my shoulders and neck hurt. I work at home 8-9 hours a day….and this chair is more comfortable than my last chair but for some reason it’s not working for my back. The chair is easy to assemble, but you have to be so careful with the “leather.” I recommend you install the arms to the chair back first and then attach the arms to the chair base. I followed the instructions and while I was trying to get the back portion to attach to the arms and base, I ended up scraping the arms and the leather was cut in several places. I was upset at myself but if I can help someone else from making the same error, I’d be happy with that. I think I saw another reviewer post the same thing and I wish I had remembered that when I was trying to put mine together.Overall this is a nice chair for light tasks or for sitting a couple of hours….I’m sad to say that I wish I could return the chair because it has caused me severe back pain in the last 2 weeks of having the chair and wish I could just return it and look for a more comfortable chair.
