Good case for service professionals
I used this to send out with my service provider on job sites to complete recorders as necessary and how’s everything between the office and job sites in the truck. While the clipboard is sturdy and has great room and contents for storage additional flap to secure the front paper is nice along with a pen clip however even though it’s metal it’s not heavy tool-proof in the back of a pick up truck. (As I’m sure use was not intended)

Good design and a fair price
Purchased this one because the hinge is on the bottom, preventing papers from slipping out when opening. Good depth allows it to hold quite a bit of paper and even handful of pens.The metal is relatively thin, so it’s prone to dent if handled roughly. The corners are smooth enough, but can cut if enough force and pressure is applied. Would not recommend for a very young child (pinch points) or someone that is very clumsy.

The storage space is pretty decent. I can toss my office’s paperwork, some office supplies like pencils, pens, a highlighter or two and my iPad in this thing.Use caution, though. I’m in construction and clipboards get knocked around a lot. The thin gauge metal could be problematic if your clipboard is subject to a lot of abuse.Still a good product, though.

Great for Contractors!
I bought this for my husband to help him be a little more organized as a Contractor. He loves it, because it’s easy to open and close; holds lots of paperwork and other essentials even when dropped from back of a truck. It’s sturdy but lightweight. He also likes that it has a card holder in which he uses it hold notes/reminders for specific tasks.Great product and an affordable price.I highly recommend this product especially for individuals that are a little disorganized and rough with stuff.

Sturdy and utilitarian. Well worth every penny.
The hinge pins on the clipboard tended to walk out with you sand have to be driven back into place in the spring that pushes the clip part of the clipboard down has an exposed and on the top of the clipboard that do to a manufacturing defect happens to be Sharp. Neither one are issues that cannot be fixed easily, but one does not expect to have to fix something after having purchased it brand new.All in all though, I would certainly buy it again. I like the fact that it has a small partitioned area to store ink pens and perhaps a small stapler, and then two additional partition dairies to keep different types of paperwork separate from one another. I bought it because I had just begun a new job that requires that I do paperwork while on the road and oftentimes in a vehicle instead of at a desk like I was used to and I have been very pleased with it aside from the two issues that I listed above.

Amazon basics one is better
As a truck driver I’ve been using these Saunders clipboards for a long time. A few years ago I tried the Amazon basics version, and loved it. Last week I left it at a customer and decided to buy another instead of going back, but this time went back to Saunders. Really miss the Amazon basics one! The quality is the same, both very durable and will last a very long time and withstand abuse. The Saunders one just doesn’t hold papers as tight and it’s quite annoying having your stack of papers slide around while being clipped on the front. Seriously, if you have to choose between the 2, go with amazons. It’s like $1 cheaper, same build quality, just has a tighter clip.

These things can take a beating!
The Saunders 21017 Recycled Aluminum Cruiser Mate Storage Clipboard are built to withstand some serious abuse and come out still looking like the day it was purchased. We bought a 5-pack of these for the delivery drivers at the place I work and having the two separated compartments inside are super convenient for keeping important papers separated and easy to access. The Clip on the outer face is good and tight, leaving little doubt that your papers are in any danger of falling out. The Hinges are well manufactured and still show no signs of much wear (have been used heavily for about 6 months now) The only reason I didn’t give these amazing clipboards a 5 star rating is because the compartment that is supposed to hold writing utensils have a little bit too much wiggle room and eventually, my pen ends up loose inside the bigger portion of the inner compartment. But, that is genuinely my only complaint about these. 100% would recommend these to anyone who is tired of breaking clipboard after clipboard

What I like is the solid construction and the fact that it’s made with quality materials. The hardware is not flimsy either and there are no sharp edges you find with some of them. The whole thing feels very well made. It’s versatile as well and fits everything I need perfectly inside. It is for sure a heavy duty piece of kit.What I was disappointed in is that mine came slightly damaged. As you can see, the clip on the top of mine is bent. This isn’t a huge deal for me, but it was a bit of a disappointment. I can understand how some buyers might be upset if theirs came like this.Other than that, I think it’s a good product at a fair price.

Fantastic Clipboard
This is a fantastic clipboard. There is a ton of room for storage, but what I like the most – and actually why I bought this particular one, is for that middle tray. I like that I can separate things like time log books from single time sheets or things like that. It’s simply more organized.I read in reviews prior to buying this that some folks were concerned that the lips of the box are sharp. They kind of are, but it’s a metal box. It’s not knife sharp, and even as I just ran my thumb along it, I wasn’t in any danger of getting cut.The clamp for holding documents to it is nice and tight. Even with a heavy book of carbon copies, I don’t have to worry about slippage. That may or may not change as time goes on, but for now, I am completely satisfied.This is also a cheaper unit than what you’ll find at Office Depot or Staples. I looked in local hardware/industrial stores and couldn’t find anything like it. Cheaper in price, but not quality.

It’s aluminum, as advertised, so treat it as such. Otherwise, fantastic design.
Mine arrived intact, with only minor scuffs where the pieces naturally rub against each other when closed. I intend to use it for storing all the things needed for an episodic-style tabletop RPG, rather than any serious professional purposes. That said? It fits plenty of paper and writing implements, with room to spare for notecards, bagged tokens and dice, and a small ziptop baggie of binder clips. The top tray is roughly 1cm/0.5in deep, with a semi-circular cutout near the top to let you lift it out of the way. The bottom tray is a little over 2cm and a little under 1 inch deep – yes, I’m aware I’m mixing measures, deal with it – and has a divider that’s split in the middle about 3.5cm/1.5in from the top. Fantastic design overall, and the aluminum ought to last plenty long, I just wish I could’ve found something similar made of stainless steel instead.

Tough & professional
I opted for the Saunders clipboard after seeing how long their clipboards last for other people. I’ve used it at gravel pits all day today, and I really like the design. It opens at the top, which is much nicer than my old one that opened from the bottom. And the 3 compartments hold everything I’ve needed, just right. Being made from recycled aluminum is icing on the cake – it takes far more resources to make aluminum from virgin materials. Couldn’t be happier!

I bought this clipboard as a gift for my manager to replace his old plastic one. The metal one is way nicer and very sturdy. Now, let’s got this started by clearing the table of something important and quite near and dear to my heart. What your seeing here is something made in America. That means much-needed jobs for our fellow Americans and a better future for all our children. More than that, its made out of fine-grade re-cycled aluminum, meaning a cleaner future too.I never much was one for bottom-open box clipboards. No, sir. Not me. Take the fellas I work with. Good folk, don’t get me wrong, but theirs being a clumsy bottom-opener, well I just knew there were gonna be problems.Why, I’d reckon that this here Saunders Cruiser-Mate has that old thing beat in all dimensions by any measure. For starters, there’s the matter of from which end it does its business. As far as getting forms and whatnot, the ease with which I’m able to manipulate this fine-crafted utility in the field makes much quicker on the draw. Boy I’ll tell you, nothing quite exemplifies finesse and tact in the art of form-fetching and -filing than being able to look a man square in the eye and get the job done right without breaking that most-important of trust-building interactions, no sir.Aesthetically speaking, why gosh darnit, that brushed aluminum finish sure does put off a nice eye-fetching shine under the scorch of the midday sun. Paired finely with its gold-tone clip up top, it subtely speaks volumes about the carrier and his (or, for that matter, her) appreciation for the finer side of life and discretion in employing it.In all other physical properties, let me tell you what, this baby is built for serious business. Don’t let that aluminum contsruction fool you now, when you hold this piece of equipment in your hands, you know you got something that’s gonna be in it for the long run, be with you for a while. While not heavy, by any means it’s got a feel of some really solid heft to it, which bring me to another point…Now I’ve heard some serious barking and yapping going on about some other clipboards about sharp edges and whatnot. Let me tell you something, I’ve never held this with anything but my bare hands and I’ve never felt the slightest feeling that it would do me wrong and go slicing my fingers, even through my own fault. Granted, the corners (not edges) look like they mean business. I mean, they come to a no-fooling-around ninety degree angle. Does this make me feel less safe? You remember that “heft” I was telling you about? Well, I do believe that, if need be, it could serve purpose as not only a defensive, but also counter-offensive piece of hardware. Why, it could even one day save myself.Yes, sir. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m quite proud of this item. When I’m out there doing my thing, it does half the talking for me. It is the first thing people see when I make my approach, and gives me the authority I need for any situation, like a knight in shining armor (or in this case aluminum clipboard). It’s a decent clipboard but…
For what it is, it’s great. Lightweight, good storage capacity, good design and price overall. BUT, only buy it if you want one that arrives dented or in some way physically imperfect. The way its shipped will not protect it from shipping damage. Mine was dropped on the corner and dented. I fixed it with pliers and kept it because its a contractor tool and I couldn’t be bothered ordering a replacement. Just be aware yours will most likely arrive damaged in at least some small way. Four stars, would have been 5.

Definitely worth spending a few bucks more
Having owned the amazon basics version of an aluminum 2 section clipboard, this one is miles better. Both are made of thin stamped aluminum but feel sturdy and lightweight. The full width hinge is much smoother in operation, and I like that it opens at the top. The clip feels better too. The edges are rounded unlike the cheaper brand so the sides feel much less sharp and hazardous. The storage is basically identical to the amazon branded version. Spend the extra 2 dollars or so and get the superior product.

This thing is great, especially for drawing or taking notes
I’ve used this for a while now, I currently use it for drawing with a pencil. It can hold paper, a few mechanical pencils, replacement lead, replacement erasers, and a big eraser, along with paper.It looks pretty nice, simple, clean.It doesn’t feel entirely sturdy, but I wouldn’t want it to be much heavier. It hasn’t gotten bent at all, but I could probably twist the lid off if I simply applied sideways pressure to the open lid. If it had more metal, it would be heavier and more expensive.It does NOT have sharp edges, nor are the edges “weird”, no folds, no seams, no little holes where it was bent together. It has nice edges and corners.It is a good clipboard. It doesn’t obstruct too much of the page, you can bring the paper down a bit to have as little of the top blocked as possible and a regular sized sheet won’t go off the bottom. The clipboard hinge and spring are good, stiff but not a hassle.It’s better than a similar plastic one, although I do use both. The plastic one has a separate storage place for writing utensils.

Organization is important
I love the durability of the clipboard and the spaciousness of it as well. I’m a prep cook and always being given new recipes for the changing menu of the restaurant that I work for. With the convenience of the clipboard I can easily store my daily menus recipes and use the clipboard for organizing the days work list. I ride a motorcycle for transportation and the durability of this particular clipboard won’t get cracked in my backpack or saddlebags when traveling. It’s super lightweight and keeps closed and is very easy to clean.

Worth the value
I was looking for a “double” clipboard with a little storage space. This clipboard does it! I carry a few little items on duty and they used to be thrown into my duffle bag. Now my bag is organized, as these items are stored in the extra space. I am also able carry my necessary forms in the forms compartment so they are easily accessible. It is also lightweight. Nice clipboard

I debated between 4 and 5 stars bot decided to go with 5. Its the best I could find so based on the things I like and that there isnt anything out there better I went with five stars. I would change a few things about the design1. LOWER PROFILE CLIP – Make the clip lower profile like most clipboards. I use this for work and keep it in my backpack and the clip sticks up too high and takes up too much room for no reason. Other clipboards have as strong clips that set lower.2. STRONGER CLIP – I haven’t had a failure yet, but the surface is so slick and the clip is not excessively strong. My fear is that I will eventually get in a situation where my clipped papers will escape the clip board. Stronger clip or less slick of a surface.3, PEN COMPARTMENT – Pens can get out of the compartment and roll around inside clipboard when the lid is shut. Improve design so pens cant move while lid is shut.4. FINISH – I prefer bare metal and/or less sheen. The finish is too slick. Being aluminum its not going to rust.5. IDENTITY TAG SLOT ON FRONT END – on the end where the clip is, put a card slide in to put name, or content or job info on the end of the clipboard. That way you could identify contents if you have multiple clipboards for a job. Then if they are filed, you could easily pull which one it is that you need.

Solid Clipboard – Somewhat Sharp Exterior Edges
This clipboard is constructed like a tank. Solid, sturdy. I use it to go aboard vessels for safety inspections and had to quit using it to avoid the corners scratching vessel gelcoat surfaces. I can’t put it down. I recommend this clipboard except if you will use it around items you don’t want scratched by the corners.

Durable.
This thing can really take a beating. I crawl around in people’s attics and crawl spaces all day. I’m also accident prone and drop everything all the time. I love this. I covered mine and stickers.

Serves it’s purpose
For me personally it’s a little to big. Opens easy locks pretty good. The clipboard clip holds Allright. The pens do fall out of the slot and roll around in the box. Hold a good amount of stuff. I have a 6in note pad 1 sticky note pad some paperwork 2 markers 1 pen a small calculator.
